No you don't want A/C in a L-78 car! Those things were built for speed, not comfort! Man, I have to start bugging the guy down the street with a '67 SS 396 SITTING IN HIS DRIVEWAY, ALL YEAR!! For at least the last 5 years!Looks pretty solid, blue/black gut hardtop all emblems look good , looks real. You guys are killing me finding them like this.

ok but i will be buying it he told me lastnight that he would take 10g's for it,i went over to talk to him after i read this thread just to put another bug in his ear so looks like i'll be getting it soon.He told me he was going to give me a good deal because it needed tires and exhaust. But, the title is still in his freind's name??it's going to be fun to ask for foregivness from the wife after i buy it..i have one in the garage i'm working on already.
Nice find.

I'd be a little more pro-active with this car, see if he's got another number in mind that will let you own this car RIGHT NOW, maybe that will jump start him. Someone could come along, do the same thing and GONE!!! It's worth a shot, if you've got the coin to spend. 10G's is a steal for that car, you could go double for it and still be in a good position!

2X what Mike said.

the only firewall marking is the X behind the distributor, orange color, anyone know the meaning or reason for this marking, i haven't found anything else on firewall yet, will keep looking when i have time.

MIKE,AGAIN,what a great car you have there!!!!!!!!

MMMMOOOORRRREEEEE PPPIIICCC"""S PLEASE!!!!!!!

Please keep those pics comming as you have time to post them, they real fun to see & are extreemly helpfull to all in t/chevelle knowing that car has not been moletsed and is a true original car.

I wish i lived closer to you,i would love to just stop by and stare at it for like 2 hrs ,then take tons of digital pics to have good documentaion to ensure i am getting it right when i work on 70 ss's.

I am from that era in time but memory doesnt always serve us right and that car is a rolling history lesson IMHO.

I would clean/detail to the max out of it inside & out/under hood and chassis without doing any painitng ect, just best possible cleanup,i bet even under the hood could be improved a lot by a good cleaning & the body/paint/interior look to be decent enough to look pretty good esp taking into consideration its age .

Thanks, I have more pics I can post, don't want to over do it to where it gets boring for anyone, I have not cleaned anything, not even the dust on the seats, but they are in very good cond, will clean up real nice, same for dash area.

I don't think so Larry, what's up with the other car? The L78, any good news on it. Don't let that slip away if it's the real deal!!
I was just drinking a few beers with him last night, cool cat...nice old man it's the real deal alright drove it around the block, man! what a feeling.I promise it's not getting away from me.

Mike, that is a great find, glad a real car guy got it instead of one of those flippers out there, keep those pics comming! Who cares what you paid for it, as long as you are happy with what you paid for it, that is all that matters!

Larry, hope you get that car, that a rare find as well! Keep drinkin' beers with him, it might get cheaper!:beers:

My 69 SS was sitting in a driveway for 10 or 15 years and the first time I went to the door, the guy was there. I talked to him a few minutes and then asked if he would sell it, and to my surprise he said YES! I bought it before he could change his mind and am glad I did! He has already tried to buy it back! After I bought it I found out that many people I knew had tried to buy the car many times over the years, it was all about timing!

On the other end of the spectrum, I worked for 9 or 10 years to buy my 69 RS Camaro but persistence paid off and they finally sold it to me!:D

My 72 SS is my most recent buy and it was just a call from a friend of a friend 2 just days after I sold my 71 Nova. If it had been a week earlier or a week later I probably would not have had the money immediately available!

Keep after these great cars guys, and good luck!:)

I saw Mike's car at Chevy-Vettefest this weekend. It truly is a nice survivor. The paint is kind of rough, but hey it's original. With a professional detailing, this car would be great just that way, without a resto.

no, i kept it, we did get the seat belts decoded, 24 is 24th.week of year, late june, correct for build 07A, 0 is for 1970, K is most likely for black color, i looked at an orig. LS6 car, built mid june ,had 21 k 0, works out correct, thanks for all the help, i learned alot about some of the small details, after talking to several original owners of Arlington build cars, i believe my stripes are correct for Arlington build chevelle, seems they did several things different occasionally
