Head Casting 3993820:
1971 402/300, 402/330, 454/365, 113CC combustion chambers.
D 5 71 = April 5, 1971
D 8 71 = April 8, 1971

So, I would expect probably 4th or 5th week of April 1971

Hi Dave, just a question, If my cars production date was 1/12/71 should I be looking for an engine with a 1970 date code,to make it numbers correct, but not numbers matching Also, is that a 2 or 4 bolt main? I would assume a 4 bolt main due to that was the big motor in 71?

Jim,

I would expect a mid to late December 1970 engine would be most correct for your Jan 12, 1971 car. And, the LS5 (454/365HP) was a two bolt main block.

On the 512 block I have seen them both 2 and 4 bolt.
