I searched and I found the 66 and 67 trunk lids are interchangeable. But is there any other cars that have the same lid that will fit on a 67? Really don't want a aftermarket.
Buddy of mine has a 67 and was parked at a auto parts and a high bed bobtail truck back into it, missed every thing except the trunk lid, looks like it was hit with a sword, right thru it. Positive side, no other damage, negative side, bobtail has no insurance and no money and it happened on private property.

thanks

I'd take them to court... Do they have a Small Claims Court in Texas (minimal filing fees, no lawyer involvement allowed).

I have no sympathy for people without insurance who won't pay when they were at fault...

As for as I know we have no small claims court in Texas. Talking to my buddy he just wants to get on and fix his car. He has a painter who is going to help him out so all he needs is a trunk lid. We have a lead on a 66 four door that he is going to check out this weekend, we'll see where it goes.
As for insurance, I'm a firm beliver in coverage and I pay for good coverage. I and many others make the effort to abide by the law that required you to have libility insurance. Others in Texas just don't give a daxx because it was not strictly inforced. The only time you had to show proof of insurance was where your car was inspected and you obtained your registration renewal, well if both of these were in the same month they bought 30 day insurance. Many when stopped would show a paper copy of proof and there was no way for the law to check if it was good or bad. If they were caught driving without proof they would let go with a ticket and you had to pay a small fine in court, slap on the behind. Texas is in the process now of implementing a computer program that if you are stopped you have to show proof of libility and the law has the ability to check the computer base program to see if your in it, all insurance companies are suppose to update this program. If your not in it or your car is not they haul the car to impound and sometimes the driver plus a ticket and I agree.
Sorry for the ranting but we got it hard back in 86 when a drunk driver hit our son and the clown thought more of have a good time then having libility insurance.

Oh yeah...

While the 66 and 67 lids are interchangible, I think the '67 Malibu and SS have a trunk lid molding... Not sure if that molding requires holes or studs... But otherwise, it should interchange...
This is correct Tony, the 67 will have I believe 8 studs running across the back for the deck lid molding. However, if the original was damaged, the reproductions require holes be drilled. As the original style clips cannot be gotten anywhere I don't believe.

Hey guys, my buddy found a trunk lid this weekend from a 67 four door. He had heard about the car and it was suppose to be a 66 but when he got there it was a 67. It was hit hard on the passenger side, front, but the trunk lid was in good shape. He said there was not much else to salvage off the car but he felt very lucky the lid was still there. The owner of the car said the lid was not interchangable with a two door so I guess that was why he still had the trunk lid. My buddy took the lid and a few other things and wants to say thanks for your advice.
appreciate the help, thanks
