I had stock vortecs on my 66 Nova 350 with a blue racer cam 214/224 0.443 0.465 lift cam, and 3.73 gear and was running 8.10's in the eight mile. at 86 mph.
383 w/ XE 274 cam & Vortecs= great power! Best bang for the buck heads on the market- only 2 things to "worry" about:
compression (they tend to add compression becasue of small chambers) and need to machine the heads to accept larger springs for "bigger" cams- actually you can buy them "ready" now for that.
Otherwise, I wouldn't get anything else!
