i have bought 3 of these in the past 5 years and each one, when installed, is high back at the hinge on the drivers (LH) side. it is about 3/8" to high no matter how i adjust it. was thinking of reaming out hinge holes to make it drop more. any other ideas? the flat hood that came off was stock and sat perfectly flush. anybody else have this problem with repop cowl hoods? i am guessing the tooling used to make the hoods is screwed up.

I agree it is probably a common problem. I went through 3 different hoods before I found one that was good enough. Even after all the kings horses and all the kings men worked on it, it was still not perfect, but close.
I found on mine that the hinges were fine. My observations and conclusions are that the goodmark hoods aren't always the same thickness as the stock hoods. Take a look at the distance between the hood skin, and the hood frame, then go compare that to the original hood. I'll bet you see a difference.

How are the repop hinges ? Im a little freaked out now cause I just bought a goodmark 2" cowl hood yesterday. I see some definate flaws in the hood. Now Im in limbo about hinges. spend $47 each hinge for repop or spend $150+ on rebuilt hinges from willie
My Goodmark double bump SS hood (not the cowl style) for my 68 had the same problem. High on the drivers side corner. New springs and new hinges didn't help either. Ended up slotting the new hinge to make it finally lay down.
In the end after many hours of massaging, it fit better than I thought it would (the horror stories of being aftermarket and all).

The Dynacorn is the same way, but put a board through the center underside and lean on it and you can manipulate the hood to fit. It's an old GM fit trick.
I bought a brand new GM Cowl Hood back in the 70's for my 70 Chevelle and it has never looked right. The biggest problem is the right side above the hindge is high. I've changed hindges and even bought new GM fenders and still had the same type problems. I've noticed this on many Chevelles over the years. You have to spend time for perfection regardless where the parts come from. I think the quality of the design back in those days wasn't anything like it is today. These cars today that we are getting used to seeing with "perfect" bodies are very overrestored. What do you think?
