I was actually in the same boat as you about a year ago. Needed all new floors in my 67. I had a guy say he would do it for $500 (labor), so I passed. I spent the $500 on a nice MIG welder, and did it myself. Not the prettiest job, but I did it

I am doing my entire floor with a 1 piece in my 66, just came out with the 1 piece with the braces in May, restorer in Omaha gets 45 a hour says he can do it in 20 hrs, so roughly 1000k, that might be quite a bit to some, not much to others but it will be professionally done and that is what I want, I want it to look original and if I was to try it surely would not, good luck with yours Chuck

bill did you spot weld or did you tack it all around
Kind of both. I never welded before this, so I was trying to learn as I went. Looking back, I may have been better off paying to have it done, but I wouldn't have the satisfaction knowing I did it, and it's F-ed up because of me

I sealed the welds with seam sealer then POR-15. You can do it yourself or with some help with Team Chevelle

That's not a bad price. How's he going to install it, like oem or going to cut up the new piece and fit it from there? I did mine like Rob (rubadub) separating & removing the old floor at the door jam area. This is oem way & not cuting my new floor, but it was a pain in the backside. Mine new floor was 2 piece......With a one piece this would be very difficult to slide the new floor into the door jam area. Anyway....that's my 2-cents. Good Luck

But now you have a welder to keep and practice with.

Hey, good for you. And Chris is right, now you have a welder. My eyes did pop out of my head when I read that you never welded before. Not a big deal, something like that doesn't have to be pretty. Did you grind the welds down or no?
