Nice find. Hopefully you don't expect Porsche or Ferarri steering or handling from this A-body, but believe it or not it can be attained. Do you plan to show this car or drive and enjoy it? Either way I think you have a very nice car you'll enjoy for years.

I remember seeing in the previous pictures of the car that you posted that the car had a single master cylinder. That is probably one of the first things I would upgrade, mainly for safety reasons. NICE looking car!

I love 66s, I just put a 98 jeep grand cherokee steering box in my 65, popular swap and works great. Much better than the old slow ratio box.

its just a driver....i just bled the brakes....didn't really help...maybe a little...has anyone ever replaced their steering box to one of those quicker turning ones?
I have this one:

in the 12:1 version. I like it alot. In combination with the Global West front suspension (control arms, center link, etc) and new springs, it really tightened up the steering and gave me "road feel".

Glad to see your car arrived. There is always something that the pictures and description will not show you. But it sounds like a good car that only needs some minor work. Good luck.

Now you're gonna have to practice mouthing "thanks" and and the all too familiar head knod to all of those thumbs up you're gonna be getting on the road.
Welcome to american muscle bliss..

I have the original drum power assist brakes and the original power steering box. Original suppension except for ball joints were replaced. I just kept everthing the same, went though and inspected everything. No problem here in MN if you drive the speed limit and only put on around 1200 miles a year.

Glad to hear that you got your car ok.I put close to 100,000 on my Chevelle. You do get used to the brakes and steering.I dont remember if your car was power steering or not,but mine is "Armstrong" and It is interesting trying to move it just in the driveway now that everything I own is power.I would check to see what kind of lining is installed. The car will stop ok, you just have to remember its 1966 and not a newer car.LOL.....
