That one at Tractor Supply looks identical to the one from Harbor Freight, except the HF one is orange. But in any case, it looks to be the same one I bought at Pep Boys for $99 about 6 months ago. It was regularly $149 but I came across a $40 Pep Boys rebate deal at the time. I think it's the Torin T32001, shown here:

They all look the same and it could be that they all come from the same source in China. Anyhow, it worked just fine when I pulled the small block from my 5.0 Mustang. In fact, with the rebate money I got the companion engine load leveler ($29.99), and yanked the motor myself. But I do think you can do better than $169 for it. Also, you're going to want to try and find it locally, since it is a heavy mo fo (200 lbs) and will surely cost some big bucks to ship it. I've seen the same one go on Craigslist here in L.A. for less than $100. Plus, if it comes down to decision time, do spend the extra few bucks for the folding one over the cheaper non-folding model. It really does fold up fairly small, meaning that you can live with it in your garage. But the bottom line is that these are all a really good deal since the local tool rental yard wants $40 a day for essentially the same thing. Do a couple of engine pulls with your buddies and it's already paid for itself.

i got a folding one at Northern a few years back, and it became my most used tool. i paid $200 for it, and it is pretty damn beefy- i know i've lifted way more than i'm supposed to lift with it- i don't think you are supposed to use it to lift the whole front end of a 76 Lincoln Mark VI with a 460 off the ground when your Craftsman floor jack decides to take the day off- and it just keeps on taking it.

Bought mine from Sam's probably ten years ago. It's been a great tool.

One thing I sure wish now I would have noticed about my old "Sam's Club" cherry picker is there is no stem packing nut on the release valve and it leaks oil.
What's worse is there are no threads to put a stem packing nut into and the hole is some odd ball size so I can't make anything permanent work.
I need to buy a new ram I suppose.

Mine came from Northern tool. The shipping was more than the tool! I exploded, because they quoted me a shipping price much less. That said, it works fine, I've pulled and installed dozens of engines with/without trans attached. It does fold up nice, stays out of the way till I need it. The hydraulic died a couple years ago, and bummed me out one weekend in the middle of a project. That's when someone pointed out the air assist one at HF. I went and bought it and it was a direct replacement, works like a charm!

I've had that Pepboys one for about 4 years now and no problems with it.

The only suggestion I have is watch who you loan it to. Had mine about a month, guy I worked with wanted to borrow it to pull a motor out of a full size truck. I get it back (had to go get it) and it was bent. Only standing on three of the four legs. I go "What the he!! happened"?! He says " I didn't do that." I said "It wasn't like that when you came and got it.!" "Oh, well I forgot to get one of the motor mount bolts out and picked up the whole truck and jumped on the front bumper to try and free it before I realized I'd left one of the motor mount bolts in." He had it on the 500 pound notch and picked 2000 pounds! When they come to borrow it, tell them to go to harbor feight and buy their own!

Bought one from Auto Zone a couple of years ago, works fine. I will say that it bent when trying to unload a Jeep 4.0 and transmission from a trailer on an uneven surface, even tipped the crane :clonk: but it still works.

What is "TSC" ?
Just a guess but I think it's Tractor Supply Center. I don't know why people insist on using acronyms for everything. Is it that much harder to type out those two or three words??????????????????
