I just called Summit (they carry the Boyd Coddington), and the salesman said that there is no 18x9, only 18x8 and it only comes in 4 1/2 backspacing. So I bet that is the size that smokin66 is running on all four corners.

now here is a question for you guys.
i was thinking of doing a engine/trans swap. it must make 450whp+ and i want to keep in atuo trans.
should i go with:
ls1 with huge cam
stroked ls1
572ci
boosted motor build
or give me your options
In my opinion, the ultimate engine is that all-aluminum 427 small block that cranks out 550HP. And the engine only ways 350 pounds! I believe Summit still carries it. $13k price tag though.

i know very little about all aluminum engines. dont you have to change the rods after so many miles? because if the aluminum rods becoming longer?

$30k for a 283 Powerglide, wow!

Thanks for the uplifting words. Makes me feel like the time, trouble and money I am spending on my 66 are worth it! I thought I way overpaid at the $6k level when I bought the car, and am rebuilding the jyd 350 motor now. It will be running again in a couple of months.

And I can still claim that it has original brakes, veerrrrryyyyy original!

By 'all aluminum', they referring to the aluminum block, heads and intake. The connecting rods are 4340 forged steel, same with the crankshaft.
