Pretty simple. What's the best "bang for the buck" thing that you've done to your project? Maybe something that you couldn't believe you waited so long to do and were blown away by the results.

best money i spent on my car was the SSM lift bars. totally changed the way the car launched and hooked. i went from not hooking at all to 1.80 60ft times on street radials.

Going from a peg leg with 2.73 gears to a posi with 4.11s :D

m71, I've really wanted to try a set of SSM's, but they've been hard to track down. I can't even find a used set on Ebay. I don't think I want to buy Jeg's version as there was some sort of rift between them and SSM on the design rights. I'd really like to go whole hog and get a Dick Miller setup.

LXS, yeah baby, gears! I went from 2.56 open/350TH to 3.91/700R-4. Sumbitch! That's probably the biggest difference, but it cost me a little bit.

there are better bars out there now, but none are as cheap as the SSM's were. mine were real cheap...i bought them used off of a buddy who had them on his 69 for a very short time then decided to go with a back half and 4 link set up. i gave $50 for them, i think they were $150 new.

m71, what bars would you recommend if SSM is not an option?

The best bang for your buck, for me was installing a set of Edelbrook IAS self proportioning shocks & a Hellwig 1 1/2" front anti-sway bar. My '64 Malibu now handles corners nicely and still has a smooth stock type ride. Dave

On my 350, taking off the worn out 1.70/1.50 307 heads that were on there, and replacing with fresh factory 2.02/1.60 heads.

$400, to go from 14.1 to 13.5....

1) going from a 350 to a 406.

2) going from a 2.73 to 3.73 posi.

3) going from something <2" exhaust to 2 1/2".

in that order.

so far for me, it is the boxed rear lower arms and urethane bushings. i havnt driven the car yet, but that has to be the best thing i have done to the car. oh and patch that nice hole in the frame where the streering box bolted up. hehe.

Larger Front, & Rear Sway bar are probably the best improvement in overall driving improvement,

But the rear gears, (I once went from 3.08 to 3.90) is the quickest way to a quick feeling car.

I've heard more knowledgeable people say that the right torque converter, is one of the best mods when it comes to E.T..

So which is the most important to you ?
