What do you guys think?
I wish it was not white in color.
Thanks for your input.

Silverado with a V-6 is a waste, if you ask me. If you are going to do any pulling, hauling or basically anything, get a bigger Silverado. I personally have a 05 2500HD with a gas motor and the allison transmission.

Yep, what Freddy said. The V6 is an underpowered waste of cast iron. You'll get better gas mileage, power, and even engine life with a 4.8 V8. We might have a black one on the lot if you're interested, PM me.

Thanks Freddy,
I'm not looking to haul anything heavy. My concern is mostly gas mileage in case I have to take it to work. I have a 120 miles daily commute. I was thinking to let my daughter use it locally and when ever my Honda needs repairs I can use to go to work. I'm just tired of asking friends and paying to have large items brought to my house. I think every house should come in with a pick up truck.
Dave, thanks for your reply also. You replied while I was replying to Freddy.

have a 07 model that is 4.3 powered with a 5 speed, reason i bought it was it was pretty low priced for a new truck (has no options) and will concur with mr birdwell that it is underpowered. But, it gets well over twenty on the highway maybe even twenty five miles a gallon. It has almost 30 K miles now and not a single problem (other than a flat tire) decent truck.

I had a '97 with a 4.3 and it was a waste. I dropped in a '97 LT1 out of a Camaro SS. I wasn't happy with that either. Now I have a 1996 K1500 with a 5.7 V8 and I love it. Just about the same milage I was getting with the 43. I never got close to 25 mpg with my 4.3.

The 5 speed with the overdrive and the ability to select what gear you drive in ables you to get better mileage. I do have a question, though...is this mileage from the DIC, or is it actually your own calculations?? Seems to me the indicated MPG on the DIC is always somewhat higher than actual if you calculate it.

I am coming to Albuquerque the first week of June to bowl in the tournament going on there. Seems to be a nice town to visit!

I had a 2003 1500 with the 4.3 V6...what a pig and a gas hog. The dash cluster went out 3 different times...there is now a TSB out to fix it...

I was thinking when I bought it new that I could have the best of both worlds...a truck...and a truck that got good gas mileage...LOL, I was WRONG! I think on average...I got between 12-15 mpg...maybe 17 on the highway. I, too have a 100+ mile commute every day.

The only good thing was that the 4 wheel disc brakes on that truck were awesome...never had to touch them...even thought the truck had close to 100,000 miles.

I now have a new 07 Silverado LT with the V8...and what a difference! More power, better mileage...better towing ablility.

The difference is like night and day.

Ditto on the extended cab. It gives you a place to keep your stuff out of the weather not to mention a place to lock up valuables. In an open bed your belongings are there for the taking.

Thanks for your input, guys. Hard to convince the wife to buy a V8 that is more economical than a V6, but we will see.
Print out this thread and show it to her. It's not speculation, it's a fact. Here's another point to ponder, your resale value will be much better with a V8.

LOL...if I would have even paid attention to the EPA mileage estimates on the window stickers...I would have figured it out sooner :)

There's no comparison...get the V8. BTW, mine was an extended cab...definitely handy!

Luis try and find a newer truck then 94. That model is still a TBI and suffers in both power and MPG. I know the Vortec engine was used in the 96, I had one with a 305 (5.0L). It towed the Chevelle well and when running empty got 18 mpg. It was a Z-71, ext cab with 3.73 gears. I drove it almost 10 years and put 205k miles on it. The only major repair was 2 transmission overhauls, at 80k and again at 180k.

Do you mean 2004? I think thats what Louis was looking at, an 04 model.:) Although I still dont understand what the point is to have a tow package with a V6 powered full size pickup.
