I was working on my car yesterday, and pretty sure it does NOT have a vacuum modulator on the transmission.

Its a TH400, built by Hughes (bought through Summit), manual/automatic operation (not sure if thats why it doesn't use a VM?).

The Previous Owner did a lot of "race only" stuff (no kick-down, not vacuum advance on the distributor, etc), but I am looking for a little more of a cruiser (but something I can hammer on too)...

So, what are the benefits of installing a vacuum modulator? Do I want one on the street? Better mileage? driveability? does it matter?

I seems to function fine. I was doing some work on the intake, and noticed there was no vacuum line going to the trans... Basically trying to decide IF I want/need to add another fitting to the carb/intake...

Thanks...

boy are you lost that tranny has a modulator and the vaccum is connected look a lil closer.
Okay,

I see the vacuum line is "T'd" off of the "A/C" vacuum hose (off the carb)... Just a hose... I was looking at "no fitting" on the intake, and no steel line running down the back of the engine... the vacuum hose was buried in with the wiring harness against the firewall...
