Cleaning surface rust

Anyone have a good method for cleaning this off without making the handle looking too shiny

On something like that, I'd just use a wire wheel. Problem is, it will return again pretty quickly if you don't treat it.

I'd try ultra-fine steel wool first.

Vinegar, leave it over night then pressure wash. Wala brand new

neutralise dipstick in a baking soda\water solution.

After finding out how rare these are I think I would gold plate it.

Bead blast it on...low pressure. Then rub on some 3-in-1 oil.
