Jason, again thanks! But these pics make me want to cry. I did all the work myself including paint during a frame on resto in 89-90, then like a dummy I sold car to my brothers neighbor and there it sits behind his shop in Farmington Hills Mi. I traced it down while I was up in Detroit for Woodward dream cruise. I talked to him 2 days later on phone and he says he is gonna fix it up in the spring, meanwhile it rots being outside 5 years. I even offered him a good price to buy it back and he said no. Life goes on!

I think she just likes having something people want.
That right there hits the nail on the head IMO. I think the reason a lot of these owners that have a car thats desirable nowdays is this reason why they still keep it. Sure, there may be sentimental value from a past loved one thats no longer with us. But, im thinking a lot of these owners lack the funds or perhaps tools, knowledge, etc. To really do a restoration of a car that they keep saying "they will fix up someday".

I found a 1970 GTO last summer in front of a guys yard that is sitting in the grass. Mowed around it, not much weeds so it hadnt been sitting there for too long. Maybe a year or so. I just wanted to look at it and the guy was out sprinkling his lawn. I got permission and really wanted to only check it out. Owner didnt really say, im going to fix it up someday, but he did mention fixing it up or at least handing it down to his grandkid(s). I did ask if he was looking to sell it or if it was for sale, but I didnt ask him if he "wanted" to sell it. I just thought it was cool to see it up close.:)

Frank have you been in contact with the guy since? I am 30 min from Farmington and a buddy of mine lives there.
Tom, I havent talked to guy since Aug. The car sits behind Champion Tool which is next to a Sherwin Williams paint store. Go take a look it will make you sick. Cant recall the road it Champion Tool is on ,but it runs north and south and is off exit 5 of rt 696.

I found an ad on craigslist yesterday for a 70 Malibu for $900. It said no glass or interior, hasnt run in years. I called the guy thinking I may have found a donor and it turns out it was the one four houses down from my parents house! Stopped by to take a closer look on the way home from work and this thing is pretty rough. I lifted up the side of the tarp to check out inside and there are no doors either. It snowed here yesterday and there was a couple of inches of standing water on the floor pans. The drivetrain is all there, 350/350 with A/C. The trunk wasnt pretty and the from isnt any better. :noway: If any one is interested let me know and I'll get you the guys number. He told me the price was negotiable.

This one has been sitting in my parents neighboorhood for about ten years. Normally there is a big pile of crap around it. We were over for Thanksgiving and I noticed that you could actually see it! I remember when he got it. Maybe I'll stop by and see if it has a good front clip.....

Attached is a pic of "My" Gto... I've been calling it that for years.

When i was in highschool back in '94-96, the car was in pristine condition sitting at the end of the driveway... Would drive by it everyday dropping my friends off after school.

I came back a few years later in 99 to visit a friend and saw the car had been pushed to its new location, and hadn't been cleaned in a year or so...

Since then i have driven by at least once every 3 months or so. It has never moved again- never been cleaned, just gotten worse and worse. The whole house has fallen into similar disrepair and overgrown state. Looks to be an elderly couple living there, probably having problems of some sort. Very odd, as this is a very well groomed neighborhood, then you have this house thats falling apart and overgrown.

I've knocked ont he door, and left notes to no avail. Talked to neighbors and they have said a lot of people come looking at the car, but obviously nobodys been able to get it.

Anyway... Went by for a visit yesterday... and took this pic. But- its still there so who knows... someday i may get my chance! Hope springs eternal! :D

Heres a pair I came across last weekend...

I think this truck has already 'faded' away. It sits on the edge of a farm field where we turkey hunt. Actually pretty solid.

Some Pontiacs a guy has collected to watch rust here in Milwaukee...

Here's a few from northern wi. The guy has a lot of cars around his property (57 chev, model a p/u...) but none of them will be released.

And the famous Milwaukee 'Jesus Chevelle.' Tried buying this one (figured it belong to a little old lady-wrong)...guy eventually said 4k. Looks nicer in pics than actually is...has rot & bondo. I declined and a few weeks later he had it repainted with a macco paintjob right over everything that was exisiting and added some 3rd gen camaro rims. Even with the new paint, it still looks worse now. It didnt move before it was painted, still dosent move now. I guess he thought new paint would make it worth more

All the cars except the ones in the last 2 pictures have been saved. The guy finally died and true rodders bought it all. The last 2 are a junkyard near me its for sale but not affordable. Im trying to get thetruck but not sure what it is? Some1 told me maybe essex cuz its not looking like a ford.

I really need to start taking more pics cuz this is all i do search the woods for cars.
Awesome pics. I love seeing cars and trucks like that. That truck in the last pic still has the spare tire rack on it.

I did a job last week in the area I grew up in. The house I did was the last house on my paper route 25 years ago. I drove down the street to see if I could remember any of the houses, low and behold the orange vette sitting in the carport that was my first delivery house was still sitting there. It looked exactly the same, still backed in the carport. I looked at that car every time I collected from them. Cant believe its still sitting there.

Here you go buddy. Looks like you need to keep trying to get it back.

About a 1/4 mile from me, These 2 79 Trans Ams have been sitting here for years, well into the 90's in rain and shine, use to have covers but they rotted away. Notice Graffity and the camper shell with large tank bridging the two :clonk:

You Know I Am Not Sure What The Laws Are In All States But..... In California If A Car Has Not Been Reg. For 7 Years It Drops Out Of The System. I Have Bought Cars That Had No Titles And Had No Rec. In The Dmv. I Applied For A Lost Title. 30 Days Later The Car Was Mine.

I Got A 1967 Suburban That Way. The Truck Was Sittin On The Side Of This House Forever. I Knocked On The Door. The Lady Inside Said It Was Her Sons But He Got Into Drugs And In And Out Of Jail. She Said I Could Have It But She Had No Paper Work!!! The Truck Was Out Of The System ( Last Reg. More Than 7 Years ) I Did A Lost Title On It 30 Days Later Had A Pink Slip!!! So I Think Everyone Should Try This. If You See A Car Thats Been Sitting For That Long Get The Vin# Off It And Make Some Phone Calls You Never Know!!!!!
