If you have a stick, are you using launch control? yes

What are your reaction times? .515

How is yours wired? line-loc and rev limit 3500rpms off of line loc switch just below shifter ball...thumb operated

I have set up a few of my customers cars with a 2 step hooked to their line lock. The 2 step hold two rev limiter pills. If you have a MSD 6AL the job is quite easy the 2 step plugs directly to the rev limiter pill plug. You wire the line lock to the signal wire on the 2 step module so when you push the button 12 volts goes to the signal wire, this activates the 2 step which is lower rpm level then the regular rev limiter.

I have a three step... I have wired step 1, as I mentioned earlier... on the street I get tire/side spin if speed shifting from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3... I was thinking of putting a clutch operated switch to limit rpms when clutch is in to 4500rpms.
fyi I shift at 6900 and land at 4400 or so.

i have a 2 step with the line lock wired into each other, but with a toggle switch to take the rev limiter off for the burnout. i run this to a button on the steering wheel and release it and dump the clutch at the same time. i've only taken my car to the track once, so far(lousy colorado weather) but my best reaction time so far is .004, average is .024-.065

I just wired mine that way after reading another post, last night... was getting ready to test it, and I noticed break fluid leaking out of the bottom of my summit brand line loc... (about 4 uses old)... so I called em and they are sending me a new one... so haven't tried it yet with rev and loc control together...I am hoping for much much better...

been practing jerking my leg and thumb here... lol... its fun though http://www.bid2race.com/trees/tournamenttime.php

to get a decent time I suggest you cut the roll out in half

I always used the line lock button that went below the shifter knob. I would use my middle finger on the button. I ran that way in the stick cars and with my trans brakes until I recently mounted the button on the wheel.

I had a switch on my clutch for a 2 step. I tried it on the shifter but couldnt remember to let go. lol THe only thing i had problems with on the clutch was remembering to push it all the way to the switch, so i added a red LED on the dash when it was activated.

Off topic Golf, but with proper tire pressure and some preload in the pass side ( i have a airbag in the coil), you should be able to burn out in a completley straight line, like its on a string.

If you use a launch control(2 step) won't your engine have a tendency to bog without the shot from the accelerator pumps when the ignition kicks to full rpm since your holding your foot on the floor?

If you have the rpm high enough there won't be a bog. A bog is coming form the engine not having the low end torque to get the car moving. I think what you are thinking of is if there is no accelerator pump shot from idle. Then there is a dead spot. In this case on the rev limiter there is already a sufficient airflow and velocity throught the venturis to be be pulling fuel out of the main jet circuit. You are not relying on the accelerator pumps anymore. Years ago on a tunnel ram we took the rear accelerator pump arms off to prove they weren't needed.

How about at a 3 to 3500 rpm launch.I dont have any electronics and when I put it a 3 grand it doesn't feel like I barely have the gas pedal down to get these rpm's.When I let the clutch out and nail it at 3k,aren't I still getting a pretty good shot off the accel. pumps? Thanks.

You may still getting something out of the pumps, but now we are talking about 2 different situations. In your case the carb is still closed. On a 2 step rev limiter, the carb is all the way open and airflow is already established. This will pull the gas out of the carb. When the carb is closed you need to get the airflow moving and the pump shot will do this, until the airflow will pull gas out of the venturis.

I understand now,Ray,thanks ,good point.P.S., Nice looking car,do you ever run at Cecil?

I may run at Cecil. I just moved in Sept. so I haven't run the car here yet, but Maple Grove and Cecil County look like the closest to my house right now.
