I was lucky enough to be able to spend the last 2 weks sorting thru a 60 year collection of antique and old car cars that an auctioneer friend was selling for the family. This ol' guy was 94 and was the typical (I won't sell anything, don't come back hermit). He loved Model "a's" and old Fords and bought a lot and pulled it into his woods and made make shift shelters to protect it all. As he got older the shelters fell down and the cars took a lot of abuse. I believe a lot of the cars were probably pretty bad when he pulled them in. I enjoyed the 2 weeks sorting thru all this stuff and being the first guy to do so in many years. The old hermit wouldn't even let his family in and they didn't know what was here. I have a link to AOL pictures and it should work. A lot of pix are repetitive, but you'll just have to look at them twice. I have the auction prices for everything there. Some stuff was crazy, some was too low. The really nice Austin Bantam Rdstr sold for $1400, lot lower then I thought. the blue 29 touring sor 4200, way too low also. Lots of the bodies with the bottom completely gone and no subframe went for way too much! If the link doesn't work, I will try to correct it.

I removed the extra http and it takes me there, but it is my account. I have it in the public gallery area, so it should be accessable for anyone. Maybe not for a non-AOL member?? I'll keep playing with it.
I have been using Sony Image Station for online photo sharing, but they are shutting down. I have yet to find a site that is easy to use and allows anyone to see pix without recieving an invitation.

Pics worked for me. Lots of cars there.

I been into old cars since I bought my first Model A in 1973. It is a chance of a lifetime to be able to get into someplace like this and uncover what is there. The old guy took apart a lot of what he got and stored the parts in old bus's. Inside one bus I found 2-32 grilles, 1-33 grille, 1-34, 2-35's, 4-36's. All but 2 of the 36's were really nice. Found 7 complete 32 headlight bars with original headlights. 4 NOS fenders for 39-40 Chevs, lots of nice Model A parts. The worst part was the stuff was covered up so much that you couldn't tell the condition until you got it uncovered. You would dig and see that there was a 29 roadster pickup under the pile you were working on. When you finally got a good look, it was sad to see how bad it was.

nice to see that old stuff being saved. Some people would just have everything crushed.

Next time, could you please tell us about the auction BEFORE it happens? :)

That is some awsome old iron, I enjoy looking at old cars like those.
I bet a guy like Boyd Cottington would litteraly piss himself if he saw something like that.

According to my list 97 was an old bus.
Coddington wouldn't have a thing to do with this stuff. He wants that primo Ca tin. I doubt he could do anything with it anyway. All he would do is hire people to do it, sell it for big bucks and take the credit. Guys like that are a pain to the car hobby in my mind. I have a lot more respect for guys that get dirty in thier backyards and figure out how to do it all themselves. Also with limited tools and facilities. Those are the real hot rodders. You know...guys like us!
Prices didn't make sense at all. A nice 29 model A tudor brings $4700, it's not drivable. A Model A touring in as good or better shape only brings $4200. A model A sedan windshield frame brings $200, a whole car only $700. Heck buy the car take the frame off and sell the rest of it. The 31 Vickly, nice body, no rust, on a frame complete with no motor, it only brings $1400. Restored, it is easy worth twice what a 29 Tudor is worth! Who knows about auctions. I did post a refrence to this auction, not sure what forum or message it was in.
