Calling on the complete setup and ETs for people driving high performance DAILY DRIVERS, not "street legal cars" but those who drive their car on a daily basis to work or whatever and have spent no more than 10k on their entire setup (engine, tranny, converter, gears, suspension, etc.). Just want to know basically what the limits are for daily driver cars out there are and I figured there are tons of performance guys and racers out there I could get some input.
Thanks!

This is a brief list of my combo, I have more than 10k Canadian into it but its a good driver.

1967 Beaumont SD
468 BBC
Merlin oval port heads
9.7 Compression
Lunati hydraulic
232/239 @ .050
Edelbrock dual plane
800 CFM Quadrajet
Carter mech fuel pump
Recurved HEI dist
1 3/4 Headers
Walker 'hemi' super turbo mufflers
TH350 10" ATI Converter
Factory 3.73 12 bolt

Front suspension stock with swaybar installed. Rear has no-hops & airbags but they dont hurt the drivability too much (no-hops affect the braking slightly I believe). I drive the car anywhere, the exhaust is quiet & the CD player sounds good! My 6 month old boy came home from the hospital in this car & my 2 1/2 year old girl comes cruizing with me all the time.

Times are in my sig, lets hear some other combos that are more 'street' than 'strip'!

Here is mine. Daily driver for past 1 1/2 years through rain, sleet, shine, or snow. Was pretty scary at times in snow! :D

Suspension stock with front and rear bars. Never had any problems. Great reliability and have only broke on the dyno(driveshaft  ) and strip(bent axle
Image
). Run only 93, both street and strip and no problems with detonation.

Only been to track once and drove right off the street and run the times below. No tuning between rounds since I was just looking for a starting point and bent an axle. The runs are also on my street tires so traction was bad as seen from my 60ft time. The mph indicates I should be in the elevens once my suspension is dialed in better and I have some slicks on.

But this is a street car first and strip car last.

Thanks for the posts, I'm interested on how much power and how good of an ET you can run with about 10k. That's about how much I'm spending on my combo right now, maybe a little less, and I wanna see how it stands against other high performance daily drivers (mine will be daily driven). Analyte, your setup is alomost exactly the same as mine is going to be, but mine is bored .100, and has a 4.25" stroke, little bit different cam (XE284). How does the 3200 stall feel on a daily driver, I thought anything higher than 2800 would be too much for the street. My friends 66 chevelle is supposed to dyno at around 600hp and his driveshaft snapped when he got his dynoed too. Thank you and keep those posts coming!

The ATI 3200 drives like a dream. Best converter I have ever owned. This is one part where I am sold on you get what you pay for.
Image
I have had both B&M and TCI, both ~2800 and neither were as easy to drive as the ATI.

Get and ATI and you will never buy anything else!!

Aubrey, I know you are working on a BBC but I thought I would throw you very streetable SBC for the sake of comparison. This is a true 93 Octane, drive it to the track, lower the tire pressure and run set up. I just updated my sig with the new times...still working out the new carb/timing issues.

Admittedly I only drive it to work a couple times a week (depending on the weather), but we are talking bumper to bumber, stop and go Wash D.C. traffic. I get a kick seeing the faces of the typical Lexus and Mercedes driver when I rumble up next to them at the light

Drivetrain:
383 SBC
950HP
B&M 144 Supercharger (7.5lb boost)
Eagle Crank/Rods
SRP forged FPS dish pistons (8.5 to 1 SCR)
AFR 210 heads (2.08/1.6 valves, 1.6 roller rocker)
UD Solid, .520/.540, 238/248 @.050, 112 LSA, 4 deg advance.

1 5/8 header, 3in col, exit to 3 in X-pipe, 3in in/out 20in Dynomax Super Turbo Mufflers, 2 1/2 tailpipes.

TH350 2800-3200 stall,
12 bolt limited slip w/3.73

Chassis:
3550lbs (1/2 tank gas, no driver)
Poly body/engine/control arm bushings
KYB shocks
Factory springs
1 1/4 in front sway bar
1 in rear sway bar

15 x 8 rally wheels all around, 235/70/15 front, 275/60/15 BFG Drag Radial rear.

Good luck on your combo...

Wow, that's a fast SBC combo. I was shooting for 11's with my BBC and figured it'd be cheaper to go big block, at first I wanted to go small block though. By the way, Kerry, you say the ATI 3200 stall will be a good daily driver converter?? Better than a 2800 stall TCI?? It'll produce better et's too won't it. What's the price for it?

Aubrey, The ATI is the best converter I have ever owned, period. It is also the best performance/daily driver converter I have ever been involved with in my car or a friends.

My brother has a TCI 2800 in his 72 Chevelle and even he is amazed at the difference in the two cars personalities. Mine is much more radical than his 9.5comp 355 with a comp280. An ATI is on his list of upgrades. It is that much better. Even has less slip at the big end
Image
for better ets.

My converter was built to my combo and set me back ~$600. Best money I spent on my whole setup. Call ATI and ask for Charlie, he will set you up with what you need. I was running a stock converter behind my 454 about 3 months until the TH400 was ready with the ATI. The ATI totally converted my car into a more pleasing daily driver and brutal on the strip with traction. Again, this car is driven in rain, sleet, snow, or shine so when I say this combo and the ATI are streetable, I mean it!!

Wow that was some convincing stuff, you should be a salesman. I was all set to go and call then I saw the words "set me back $600" so that will have to wait unfortunately :( But I'll probably end up getting it, I want as high of a stall as possible for my ETs but still able to where I can drive everyday. Does anyone have a 10 second daily driver, that's a dream of mine.

That site has a few pics on it, I should have more pics on there soon, maybe in a week or so, showing my half dismantled 350. I like the color scheme on the monte, don't think I have ever seen white w/ black vinyl top before.

My setup is pretty cheap. I think I have about $2200 into it.

350 +.030
10.5:1 KB hyperutectic pistons
Eagle rotating assy.
Edelbrock Torquer intake (an old one, not one of the worthless new ones)
Holley 700 DP
2800-3200 TS Torque Converter
Dart Sportsman II heads 2.02, 1.6
some Crane cam (Lift believed to be .508 int .488 ex w/ 1.6 rockers, lost the cam card, and dont remember which one is was)
Open 12 bolt 3.55s

best time is 13.53
There is still more to be gained.
