well tx for all the informations! I found a 70 malibu 307. Do you guys know whats a AC cobra 1966? Cause i built it with my dad and i learned alot about mechanic, it as 700hp!! its a supercharged 351
Congratulations.

I purchased my '72 when I was 15. Dang, that was 3 years ago, I need to get working.

I opted for a '72 because I was tired of seeing the usual '70.

FINE.. AT CB 07 GET A STOCK big block 72 chevelle on bias tire(not slicks/cheaper slicks or new street/bias drag tire) old style wide ovals/etc
and a 70 chevelle 350 on stock tires bias ply..
they'll be more than a few of each there...
and "RUN UM!!!!!!!!!!!!"
a 72 454 have what 7.8 to one..

sorry... but
we ran um..
he lost..
Hmmmm where to start........CB07 has been over for about 5 weeks
'72 454 has more like 8.2 comp AND 104 more ci & about 100+ more hp & 150 more TQ. even though it may spin it can still run down a 350 in the 1320.
I did drive my 454 when it was bone stock & no stock 350 would have touched it......maybe an LT1.....maybe

I think he is confused between the 240hp LS-3 of the '72 model year and the 300hp 350 available in 1970.

He probably doesn't realize that they changed the way engines are rated. ;)

What do you want to do with it - fix it up for looks, racing, daily driving? Or just use it as-is?

You'll notice a LOT of Chevelles now have the SS racing stripes, and "SS" badges on them. That is common for NON-SS cars that people have made into replicas of SS cars, as the real SS machine is pretty rare (and valuable). The stripes and badges look great and are easy to do. But changing the engine and suspension to the SS setup is definitely more work, but great performance-wise.

I love the 71 and 72 look myself, especially the rear bumper. A 307 is a pretty small for a heavy car like that, but it will run. You'll find a LOT of 350 Chevelles out there, and tons of 350 engines you could put into that 307 engine, if you decide to upgrade.

no I know all about the gross and net change..
I also know the 72 454 is going through a th400, that waste more power than the th350 behind the 350 ..

also know..that in three runs.the big block didn't run faster than my 350
sorry,it didn't

and I should've said CB8 not 7

but no matter.. you all.. are taking me for a fool..
we ran um.. both stock.. different drivers..
he lost .. three times..
thats what we got.. you big block guy.. want to think of me as a fool. fine..
I kmow after he changed the rear gears I was dusted...but that wasn't stock..
and all you guys getting a good laugh, HAVE YOU RUN YOUR CAR!!!!

my 70 ran 13.96 at n.e.dragway
what yours run????????????
to be fair, mine was blueprinted, when rebuilt ..and built by a guy that runs in stock..
and had a 2500rpm stall verter in it by then..

Hi Laffie. Welcome.

The 70 will be the hardest to find because it's the most popular. Most likely beyond a 14 year old's budget. I'd look at the 71 and 72 Chevelles. They have 2 headlights, where the 70 has 4. In the 70-72 years that an easy way to tell. The 71 and 72 have round tail lights in the bumper too. I think they are very cool looking. the 72 has mostly orange front turn signals while the 71 is more white. The younger guys get mostly 71 and 72s because they are more available and you can get an SS with a small block 350 which will be much easier on your budget.
sorry we got off topic.....the above advice is very good & If I were your age, I'd follow it
