I have my old 350 that I want to get rid of. It is a .030 over engine that was using oil. Is there any value in this or do I just take the bare block in for scrap? I also have the original heads to go with it so maybe with a clean up it would be a good used engine. I would think you could do a hone job and new rings if it all looks OK? I need to kick it out of the garage tonight so I can get the car back in there and install the replacement engine in my '72 Chevelle.

Any ideas?

Create some sort of house deco out of it...there was a picture of an aluminum block someone turned into a coffee table stand.
I saw that, it was pretty cool. Or maybe what I saw was a crank and some pistons holding a table up. Still I wouldnt turn a cast iron block into a table, it would be pretttttty hard to move that baby.

I did do that once with a tranny I ruined, made a nice table leg ... the only one it needed. I think the engine is OK but it would need the pistons taken out to inspect the cylinder walls and rings.

I usally go take mine to a friends house in the middle of the night and let him deal with it. Kinda funny when he calls me the next day to say Wow someone left me a nice motor in the front yard, LOL

If it's a 4bolt then you should have no problem getting rid of it. What's the casting on the heads? For all you know those could be worth some money. The dude next store dumps junk motors in his garbage can along with other things. lol

You live in Minnesota drop it off in Dereck's front yard he will never notice it their..:D Iam sure he will put it in one of his 30-40 cars he has now, hehe

Put it on Craigs list in the free section...I'lll bet it dosen't last a day.

If there's a metal recycler nearby you can take it there and drop it off. I drop off motors there all the time. I just dropped off a 454 a couple weeks ago. They just fork-lift them out of my truck and drop them in the iron dumpster.
:beers:
