Absolutely, it appears to have the same effect as the CN Tower in Toronto (well sorta) where this is a section of the floor that is all glass. :)

BTW, the Grand Canyon is one of the most awesome places in the world, it is a must see in person.

This is what I dont get: The Indians???
Hualapai leaders say they weighed those concerns for years before agreeing to build the Skywalk. With a third of the tribe’s 2,200 members living in poverty, the tribal government decided it needs the tourism dollars.

Who the hell payed the $30 million to build it??
The designer paid for it and will receive a portion of the profits for like X-amount of years. I think it's better than a Casio... And after time the area could be developed to ease travelers' access to the site, then maybe food concession earnings and camping area for RV's... Cha-ching, Win - Win situation if you think about it... Heck it has us talking about it.

Rather sit at the bottom of the canyon under the bridge with a powerful telescope and wait for the hunnys in sun dresses to come 'round..

I love this from the article, "...and environmentalists have blamed the tribe for transforming the majestic canyon into a tourist trap." :clonk: :clonk:

It's not like this is on the North Rim or Grand Canyon Village, someplace that's relatively easy to get to. This is on the western edge of the canyon according to the map. The only road I see to it (from maps.google.com) looks like route 6 (Diamond Creek Road0 out of Peach Springs and that looks like a healthy drive.

Always the opportunist :)

Looking at pictures that show the canyon walls in relation to the SkyWalk, you don't even get a full 4,000 ft. look down. It's 4,000 ft. above the river, but you don't get a 4,000ft. straight down look. I probably wouldn't even waste my money, if that's the case. I can peek my head over the side of the cliff and see the same view - for free.

I've spent some time in choppers and I've flown in all forms of aircraft, but you wouldn't get me out on that. :noway:

NO WAY IN HELL!!!!!!!!

I'd do it for sure.
But not when it is crowded

The Grand Canyon is a must-see in person.
But for sheer verticality, it doesn't match the Black Canyon of the Gunnison http://www.nps.gov/blca/

In a heartbeat...

As I've told (and broken) many apprentices "There is no such thing as a fear of heights.... it is a fear of falling... now tie off and do your job."

Or... "Nope, not afraid of heights... but that sudden stop at the bottom bothers me..."

Too cool. Where do I sign up?

a little too pricey for me...we did angels landing in zion last year. no rails or anything to keep you from going over. i got this brilliant idea to do this, and when we got there, it came out none of us were crazy about heights, but we did it, and even hung our legs over the edge when we got there. it is definately a different feeling eating lunch several 1000 feet above a canyon.
God.... that made my stomach do a flip flop just READING it

I hear it was 13-15 miles of dirt road to get there.

Grand Canyon= Cool!

Here's some pics from 1999 during a storm...pics were taken in a 1/2 hour time frame

And HELL NO I won't go out on that thing!!!

I have to agree with the others about the cost factor. Ill admit im not big on heights but I would walk out on it just to see what its all about. However, im certainly not going to pay that kind of money to do so.

I can only imagine the builders that construced it. That must have been fun for them.
