My husband went down to Scott’s shop in Knoxville with his mechanic and explained that the original frame on the Chevelle was bent so it needed a frame. They said they could make one and had 4 other orders for chevelle frames. They said it would take 6 months so he decided to go ahead. The motor sits 5 1-1/2 inches too high. They suggested he chop up the car and modify the frame to make it fit. So what was the purpose of getting this frame - it should have been turn key. My husband purchased this car from a classic car dealer and hired an independent mechanical engineer to examine the car. So, he got screwed by the seller, the mechanic and now Scott’s.
No - this is not a fake account. I posted this on behalf of my husband because I am beside myself over this. My husband is recovering from major cancer surgery (bladder and prostate removed) which occurred after he ordered the frame. So, getting this car on the road was supposed to be a positive thing in his life. Now, he’s discouraged and stressed. And, I am worried about how this will impact him. We are going back to NYC next week for follow up cancer screening with his surgeon. So, I am doing whatever I can to help him find a frame!
hang in there....we are pulling for you. I bet you will find one, even if it comes with a body of some sorts....no title ect....keep us posted. You came to the right spot

Ouch. Thats a plate full of misfortune. I can think of a couple ways something like that could happen but cannot imagine it going out the door that way. Can imagine the responsible party going out the door though. I feel sorry for the both of you. Talk about undue hassle. Y'all are right, ain't no more trust or slack due to the frame shop. Mistakes come in all sizes but a guy oughta own his own. Trust that a course of action will turn up soon and keep alert. Best of healing for Mr. Chevelle. The situation is bound to get better and its good of you to help push through the rough spell. Chins up. We'll hope for better days ahead.

Scotts Hot Rods SUCKS. I built a 70 with one their POS frames (customer supplied) and it was nothing but a total disaster. The wheel base was wrong. The wheel track width was wrong. The rear axle was narrowed (again not disclosed). It was built so the body had to be mini tubbed which they didn't disclose. They said it was set up for a BB and a TH400 which there was no way would fit with the body on. The coil overs supplied let the car sit so low the rear axle hit the body. They also designed it so it basically channeled body dropping it 3" without taking into consideration of the drivetrain hitting the floor and firewall. I had to cut the motor mount brackets off the frame and modify them. Had to modify the trans crossmember. Everything about it was a total POS. That company deserves to be put out of business. And yes I have pics to prove it.

I ordered a custom frame for my chevelle from Scott’s hot rods in Knoxville. After a year, it was finally completed. The frame however does not fit the car. Scott’s suggested I cut up my car to make it fit. That‘ not what I paid for. Now I’m in a real bind. I need a frame asap. Any suggestions would be appreciate. Bob

Hi Dave - Thanks for responding. I found a frame on an Oldsmobile that was in fairly good shape. Took two days and some elbow grease but got almost all of the rust off. Car is almost done. Should be picking it up by the end of next week. I will post a photo.
