.030 over 454, 10:1 compression
Ported 781s with 2.19/1.88 valves old lunati solid roller. 248/252 @ .050
.640 lift intake and exhaust.
850 Holley DP carb with annular boosters.
Car weighs 3545 with me in it.
Turbo 400 with 3200-3500 stall
3.73 rear gears.

Pulled motor for a freshen up and am removing old solid flat tappet cam from the 70s and installing the roller. Currently have the strip dominator but wondering if the dual plane air gap would be a better choice.

Weekend toy that goes to the strip.

I did that test back in 2018 me thinks on my 461 BBC,
Strip Dominator 11.29
Air Gap 11.26

Everyone said the Air Gap would best the S/D by 2 tenths, the results show otherwise.

The Edelbrock RPM Airgap is an awesome manifold, Weiand makes the Street warrior. I’ve seen vids on testing and the numbers are nearly identical weiand just barley edged out Edelbrock.

can’t go wrong with either one. They start around 1500rpm and carry to 6500 and a little more

I think I remember that
Yes, both intakes were optimized with the tight spacers on them. I was mighty surprised that the Strip Dominator was so good down low.

Strip dominator. Your heads ported are the unknown. Most OEM heads want a 10+ split on duration at .050. If it doesn't run like you thought it should....tighten the exhaust lash down until it stops going faster.

It depends on the torque converter, if it's low stall the air gap probably has a better average power at the back tire over the distance a to b, which equates to a better et 1/4 mile.

Hypothetically, If you tested both intakes 1/4 mile, and the air gap wins, it's because the torque converter stall doesn't have the strip Dominator intake laps in the meat and potatoes of the power for a long enough portion of the lap to have a better average power a to b.

Put a 8" converter and the Strip Dominator gaps the air gap. I went 135 mph with a Strip Dominator and steel 990 square port .060 over 427 with a Lunati 50204 camshaft in 2003 at 3775 lbs. 3.90 gear and a Powerglide. The intake was a Reher Morrison Strip Dominator with epoxied dividers extended to the center of the plenum.

Getcha an 8" converter, you'll go faster with it than you think, strip Dominator.

Here's a late 80's 163 intake I modified to be more like the Air Gap plenum, haven't tested it yet but my 520 would be a good place to start. Those newer 163 intake have a lot of crap to cut out of the ports compared to an original 163 intake form the late 60's.

Is that the same as the one in Jordans video?
That's 3933198. I think its a winters L88 intake.

I thought the 198 intake had the divider cut down from the factory. Another good intake in the Weiand Stealth/ Team G dual plane that have the divider cut down already.
