My 69 had the antenna deleted from the fender and the hole was covered up before paint.
Has an unknown aftermarket glass through antenna that I want to get rid of.
I saw this and it's a lot cleaner looking than the one in the car now.
Was wondering if anyone uses this style of antenna?

My 65 Impala was re-painted without any holes for an external antenna, and it had a totally useless aftermarket antenna behind the dash when I acquired the car. I tried one like the one you linked from Amazon, and it was equally worthless. I don't want to risk my paint drilling holes for an antenna, so I had my stock radio re-manufactured for bluetooth capability (it still appears stock) and I play music or ballgames or whatever through my iPhone, on the Sirius/XM app.

My radio is bluetooth also but I don't know how to use it. Can you explain it to me?

Since there are too many variables as to what radio with bluetooth you have, I would suggest you go to the manufacturer's web site and they should have an owners manual for your model radio that explains how to link your phone to the radio and then how to operate things.

My 69 had no provision for an antenna when I bought it. Tried a mast antenna zip tied up under the dash. I bought a brand new windshield ( with antenna in glass) many years ago. When i had a mild frame off done half dozen years ago i had that windshield installed. Even though I have all the components I didn't connect the windshield to the radio. I prefer the tune of the big block with headers.

There is a smaller harness involved in connecting an in the windshield antenna to the radio. Do you have that and is it connected. They seem to work fairly well and I prefer the look of the Chevelle without an external antenna. I even acquired an NOS rear mount antenna ( option in 69) but never installed that either. I couldnt bring myself to cut a hole in my quarterpanel.

I will have to look.

Here is the harness needed to connect a windshield with the embedded antenna to the radio.

And this thread ( in post #32) shows the end of the harness and its position which is pretty much in the center of the cowl on top. You must remove the wide stainless trim if I recall correctly to access it.

Richie, many of those antennas suck. I thought the one i had in a older 4 runner was for SAT . I guess for $25 you could check it out. The reviews say it works.

I got the OEM retractable ant working and reception was AWESOME.

Dakota says this is for AM and PM only
I assume you mean AM/FM. GPS and XM have their own antennas and the connector is different also.

Since my car has quite a few custom touches I'm looking at a flush mount antenna also.

But the person I bought the car from had the hole covered for the antenna, then painted.
I would think not knowing how this was done, there might be body filler that would cause a problem in recutting the hole in the fender.

Yeah my brain fart. It's AM and FM
I like that antenna.

To my way of thinking the easiest and most economical choice would be to just use the imbedded antenna in the windshield. Why complicate things?
