What is the bolt Dia. of the lower 4 bumper front bolts on a 70, Vell, Wgn, Camino ? I think 7/16" not sure ???

You need to buy a cheap 6" digital caliper from Harbor Freight. Super easy to use and read. You will be surprised how much you would use it to measure bolts etc. You can measure the thread pitch if necessary. I still have my original dial caliper that I bought new when I was a teen and it's in the table drawer under the computer where I use it all the time for CAD layouts of parts I make for my cars. I have the larger digital units as well as micrometers at my machines.

Bob was a tool and die guy, Believe he was just looking for a quick assist. His cheap tools are Mitutoyo, not HF.

Don't know his background nor tool list. But everyone in the hobby should have a few basic tools, especially the newbies, and the HF reference was only that there are cheap tools (too cheap not to have) that are more than adequate for basic measurements and even the old folks with poor eyesight can easily read.

Funny thing related - I had a caliper in my hand shortly after my post. And.... it was not the one in the home computer room. It was out in the garage and I am working on automotive electrical wiring install!

Too funny! Good advice! although "robinsLS5" retired as a sports camera man, he began his somewhat adult life as a tool and die man. Heck, that's what paid for his STUNNING! 1970 ELKY I do believe! No doubt the young fella has a set of old verniers somewhere; he figured the team would know off hand I reckon.

First ,, I have more micrometers and T & D stuff than most folks. Lot of Lufkin and Starrett, Last word indicators, 6 standards to check mics 0-9" Manual & Elect. Mics. Tons of calipers, 3 sets of insides 0- 6", I can do out side 0 - 9". 24" ground scale, 2-12" lufkins, All my Digitals are push button Inch, Metric. Small ground " V " blocks. lots of old cut off tools, lots of REX triple cutting bits all sizes 1/4 & up .
Carbide boring bars, Not real sure what I have. Hardly ever use any of it. My wooden " STAR " box has been sitting in my bedroom for years, I use to put camphor blocks in my box to keep the moisture out, Some stuff makes it way to my Garage. After 15--18 years,, I am way behind the curve, BUT-- I can still get it done " BY HAND " a lot of guys KANT... I call my garage, " BOBs CHEVY SHACK ". Most of the items I work on today ,, HELL I can use a wooden yardstick ! My teacher in the T & D shop was Claude Hetzler ( German guy ).. Claude always said " In this line of work everything is BLACK or WHITE and Never GRAY ". Thats me today a PITA to work with!

I was blabbering, The main question pertains to 7/16" X 14 X 1" Stainless steel Button head fasteners. 7/16" Dia. seems to be an odd size in Stainless so,,,, I may have to go " METRIC " , So I am trying to convert 7/16' to Metric = 11.1125 or 11.143 Dia. // 1" length= 2.5 CM.
I am OK with USS., I suck at metric, I am old when I think to much ,,,,, I have to take a NAP! NITE--NITE.

AMK Products lists two different bolts that are in the 70 FB kit both are 7/16-14 x 1" long. One is a regular hex head and the other is the SS capped bolt. If you buy from AMK you must have a minimum of a $30 order but NPD sells the AMK kits with no minimum order. AMK Part # is G-7190

Toolmakers are very fussy people and it carries over to their cars I know because I was one too.

Lets start all over............ I am looking for 7/16" X 14 X 1" Stainless Button Head Allen bolts, WHY ? Most repo. bumpers do not have the stamped square holes for the factory type capped 7/16" bumper bolts. So, Due to fact that I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer,, I will get 7/16" Stainless Button Head Allen bolts.
Polish them up and they will look like " Factory Bumper bolts ", and with the angle that the bolts set on the bumper, ( they are not real visible ),,You almost could get away with polished hex heads. Its not that I dont know nothing,, I dont even suspect nothing !
