I had to have the upper trailing arm mounting points in my Chevelle welded today (the bolt holes were elongated). My upper trailing arms are stout, but use heim joints on the frame end. It turns out that the bolts didn't have enough thread, so when they were torqued, the bolts were not completely tight. And, the heim joints are now shot.

I have UMI lower trailing arms with Roto-Joints at both end, plus Roto-Joints on the differential housing. Since there is only a $30 difference between the arms with poly bushings and the one with the Roto-Joints, I am leaning towards the Roto-Joint units. Purely street driven, but I think the Roto-Joints will outlast the poly bushings. Which would be best?

Thats what you want... Use a stock rubber on the rear end side...
I already have Roto-Joints on the differential housing - not going to put rubber back in (I was having to change them every two years).

Full roto joints are awesome.

I got the new trailing arms installed this morning, & took a couple of pictures where the repair was done. You can clearly see in the one photo that it was elongating the holes on both sides. I also took a picture of one of the UMI arms next to one that I had in there. You can see that the ones I had were pretty dang beefy. I think I will order some Roto-Joints down the road and install them on the old arms to have as spares. Mine have left hand threads at the heim joint end. And, yes, the UMI arms were already scratched when I took them out of the box (they don't put any padding in them at the factory).

I drove it for the first time since installing the new uppers. I will say that it is very smooth and it feels more connected. Also, no more noise/clunking when taking off from a stop or pulling in a driveway.
 
Arms look good. Question do Roto joints need to be adjusted now and then to take up slack? Spanner wrench is needed? Thinking going roto joints.
They have grease fittings and they are adjustable and rebuildable. I haven’t had to adjust mine yet. They ride on delrin so the wear will be slow. UMI has a spammer wrench available.
