Time to see what the change in jets does. Nothing quite like driving up Poudre Canyon midday with absolutely no traffic whatsoever. Seems smooth and the gearing is just right for this type of drive. Like being a kid again.
I'll pull the plugs tomorrow for a look see. Pics from last fall.

Just looked up Poudre Canyon. What a beautiful drive. I drove the loop on 34 west from Estes Park a few years back. Its like driving through a post card everywhere you go.

You just gotta love driving a well-suspended Chevelle (or any car!) through Colorado canyons! And the altitude negates needing A/C! Our significant altitude changes really reward EFI equipped engines.

what size jets?
I went 60 in front and 73 rear, 6.5 power valve 15hg vacuum at cruise.Plugs looked pretty good and I pushed it quite a bit. Idles nice at 1000 and even though its locked out it sure comes to attention nicely. You'd never know it was a 57 year old car. The 373 rear and m22 sure seem about right for a non interstate blast up curvy roads. This fall, I'll make a video and post it up.

reward is an odd term, mitigate is better, but only turbos truly mitigate thin air. I DO have an adjustable primary piston custom QJ by Eric@VintageMuscleCar.

If I bring it with me Boyd and bolt it on, CAN I RIDE SHOTGUN PLEASE!!! Its BEAUTIFUL out there, and once acclimated i sort of, well my body sort of digs 5-7000'.

Sir, may I suggest, with a little composition and planning, a drive video through there in an old muscle car, may actually be monetized on youtube!

You are right, of course, mitigate is a much better word to use instead of reward! And to further mitigate our thin air, I went with a PD supercharger on the Chevelle ;-) My "appliance" cars are turbocharged. OK, I'll charge up my old GoPro and record some videos...

PLEASE! I sold the ELKY project to someone who can actually build it. Yet, as I had a notion of going over the Continental Divide with it, i was certainly considering a small hairdryer and/or EFI.

PS while not as majestic as Boyd's route, I fell in love with route 39 in Utah/Wyo. If I died right then and there, heaven was only a few steps away. I remember telling Mark Jones the same thing about taking rt 13 up and around to CO Springs from Frisco/Alma. YO! a full moon can disappear on ya at 10,000' ! Who knew!

AS many low landers, the West sort of smitten me bad. Hell, I almost approached the Sherp dealership in CO, to tell them I spoke Russian and could sell anything , looking for a new gig out there. I actually did inquire abotu a post with Charles Schwab in CO. Come to find out 58 ( at the time) is too old for big corps to consider you. Their loss. Oh, they interviewed me, my credentials mandated it frankly. I recall asking the young lady doing the interview if age precluded me from serious consideration even though " I am clearly nearly overqualified". Yes, yes it does folks.

Sure bring it with you, why not. Yep, a video showing the a muscle car going through the Poudre Canyon spring or fall would be hot. Spring at the right time has the river almost out of control and if you pick a week day before school lets out around here it's no cars. Fall on the other hand has some serious color and is a bit more peaceful.
