I went with American Modern (through NCM, the National Corvette Museum as the broker) because they were 1/2 the price of Hagerty, who I used before. I still keep Hagerty Driver's club to get in on some events. No claims ever so I can't speak to how easy either company is to work with.

I left Hagerty for American Modern a year ago too. Hagerty went public last year and now need to please the stock holders. Yes, they have a reputation of standing behind their product, but the cost is just going to keep climbing to provide investment income to the new "owners". I saved almost half on the cost and then increased the coverage on 3 cars by 15k each and STILL pay less than what I had for Hagerty. American Modern came very highly recommended by people with multi million dollar collections and have had claims that were paid to their satisfaction.

I have condon skelly, have had a couple claims, were good to work with. Also they have towing for a additional 50.00 every year, had a couple tows seemed like they took forever to get to me. Hagerty told me mouse damage was not covered ( this was years ago, might have changed)

So I've been with Hagerty for the last few years and someone told me to look at NCM insurance. Its insurance by the national corvette museum. The premium is over half less than Hagerty with same coverage. I think i'm about to switch to them. would be going from $700 a year to $330 a year.
Any restrictions? Miles or otherwise? Stated or agreed value?

Here in western Canada, I could never get Hagerty to even call me back, I know a couple guys using them, poor sales group I am told. I am with Western Union and pay about $1000 per year. High theft area in this city, last year the cost per trip in this car was about 200. Probably need to drive it more.

My wife does the math on our boat like that. Between berthing, insurance, maintenance, fuel, food and beer, it cost us about $1000 each time we take it out.
Which is why it’s for sale…

I believe State Farm now works with Hagerty so you can bundle your policy needs. I might look into out of curiosity though Hagerty was always the most expensive classic car insurer anytime I got a quote from them.

Great info here on 'agreed' vs 'stated' value. Learned something new. Thanks to all who brought it up .I am with Hagerty. Happy but also never had a claim. Thats when you find out, I guess. A lot probably depends on their local agents.

Local agents generally play no part in claims.

I have Haggarty insurance on my Chevelle - drive it a few times a month and valued at $25,000. I've noticed my premiums have gone up from $39.79 to $55.48 in the last few months. I'm getting the car from the restore shop in a few weeks after a frame off and will need to up my coverage - driving it a few times a week and valued at $80,000 (which is low compared to what I'm paying the shop, but I want to try to keep the insurance at least a little reasonable).

What insurance does everyone else use and how well does Haggarty pay? Should I just suck it up and pay the high premiums? What is everyone's thoughts on insurance on our cars?
I am in western Canada as well like a previous poster. I just had mine appraised over 100 cdn .. so I went with cooperators .. I was in a hurry ... 819 a year .. 4800 km or 3000 miles
Covered for the value in case of theft fire hail accident etc...
I'll shop around this summer and see if it is a good price

RAMBO, thank you for that insight to "Agreed value and Stated value". Also, for the Cherished Salvage option. Great information!!

For all the guys that have a late model performance car, i.e., Shelby, CTS-V, ZL1, Z06, HellCat, etc (in addition to your vintage muscle car) that is a seldom used car and only driven on occasion. There is an insurance company that will insure both the late model performance car with the vintage car all on one policy. NCMI (National Corvette Museum Insurance) will cover it all. I originally had Hagerty and wanted a "one policy cover all sort of thing". I have a 79 Camaro pro street, 67 Impala and a 2013 CTS-V. I contacted Hagerty, Grundy, Heathcock, etc and for one reason or another, I couldn't get any of the more recognized companies to cover all my specialty cars until I got a hold of NMCI. I got everything covered with agreed upon value and I did go with a high deductible on my Pro Street and got coverage on all 3 vehicles cheaper than what it was costing me to cover just my CTS-V with USAA. BTW, when I got my policy from NMCI, I saw that they use American Modern as their insurance provider.
