Engine stamp looks good IMO. Is that a fleet / special order code on the trim tag? After the 5W. From my research it looks like the only SS V8 coupe bodies rolling out of the KC Fisher Body plant during the 03C and 03D weeks were Z16 bodies. If this one got plugged in to be built 03D then makes sense it would have to have a string pulled somewhere to get it done.
 
No bids yet! I think a lower opening bid with a reserve might have been a better way to get the interest level going! I'm not a diehard "numbers" type but I would certainly buy a 65 L79 SS Coupe/Conv or possibly an El Camino. I just don't know all the fine details like RichL79 or Jeff Helms to even think about buying one.
 
There is no clock. Shouldn't there be one on the dash? It does have a tachometer.
Yes, tach in a Malibu or SS pushed the standard clock out of that hole, replaced with the add-on top-of-dash "pod" clock. (Tach in a 300 or 300 deluxe did not result in the T-O-D clock, unless the optional clock was also ordered).
 
Another really odd thing about the trim tag on this car --

Body # is 13642, with broadcast date of 03D.

However, I have pics of V8 SS (non-Z16) Body # 13632 (VIN sequence 5K162358) which has broadcast date of 03A, and another SS (non-Z16) Body # 13946 (VIN unknown) which also has broadcast date of 03A.

This car falls in between those two body numbers, but was broadcast to be built two weeks later, with VIN some 8700 cars later.

Then I have V8 SS (non-Z16) Body # 14500 (VIN sequence 5K168001) which has broadcast date of 03D. (This is one of only two non-Z16 V8 SS's I had in my database from 03C through 04A, before seeing this one). So same broadcast week as this car, but 858 higher body number, but 3178 lower VIN.

I have to think either (A) this was some sort of special order car (through a fleet order or COPO), or (B) the body number on the tag was mistamped and should be 14642, or (C) the tag is fake. But it does not look fake to me.
