Owners probably got tired of getting their @$$ kicked by every other 500+hp Camaro, Mustang and Charger/Challenger, turbo LT/LS, ... . Who could blame them. $100K for 490HP?! Then another $15K for a turbo kit. But then before that there's the new trans that it needs for any performance parts to hold up to the boost. Then don't forget the aftermarket rear axles it needs as well. Now you're into it for about $130K or $150K if your paying someone for the work. And all that for ECM issues and half the customers still waiting on there promised cars.

With the above article, I can see many still waiting for their car delivery dropping orders for this newer/better. I foresee the 2022 C8 becoming pretty cheap when these hit. History will show it to be a Suck when the parts are so expensive to get HP/TQ out of a 2022 for a one year car. Not worth it.

Mike, tell us what you really think!

I've never denied it for 2 seconds -------------- the late model Vettes have astronomical technology, more power, handling, braking, air cond, every pwr feature known to man, fine tunes, etc, etc.
But they are sill a monochromatic, aeroslick, cookie cutter look alike with a "look at me, I own a new Corvette, and you don't".
But they just don't have the magic of these, I don't know how fast it will go, but I've pushed it over 145mph.
I mean, how fast do you need to go. And mine appreciates, rather than depreciates.

I disagree with everything you wrote. :D

Most buyers are not racers, so none of that matters. They're not getting beat if they're not ever racing.
What the magazine articles say its 0-60, 1/4-mile, and top speed is as much as most will ever know about its performance.
Sticker price is very reasonable for the C8, but current selling prices are $20-30k over sticker because of the mix of high demand and production delays. At sticker, it's the best performance value on the market... if you could get one for sticker.

The Z06 is going to be low production and very expensive with dealer "market adjustment" so the current base C8 market is not going to fall off at least until production volume can catch up with demand.

Well then Sir ! I'll just have to agree with everything you said then ! LOL. Ok, maybe not everything but most.

I actually do agree and understand.

They may not be all out racers but they do like to give the 'go pedal' a push when another performance car(s) is on the street or HWY with them. Happens to me all the time (not just vette's). Then they get disappointed when their $100K+ 490HP car gets smoked.

I will also agree about the sticker price, and as you pointed out, that's not what people are actually paying currently. No matter the situation. At $75K sticker would I say its the best performance value on the market? Road racing, maybe. Hard to beat. Everything else, no. If we are just going off sticker, then a Hellcat will run $79K sticker, and can be 'actually found' and cheaper for the price of a non-existent $75K C8 sticker.

For the new 2023, again I agree they will be way above even more for the reasons you mentioned and current situations. I cannot fathom to think that someone is going to continue to pay for a one year only 490HP $100K+ C8 when they could cancel their currently waiting order and put that towards this newer 670HP C8. Especially since the current demand isn't being met with a sub par vette.

It might be fast, but as far as I'm concerned, you can take that flat plane crankshaft and stick it where the sun don't shine. Sounds like crap and shakes so bad thay had to resign the oil filter so it didn't vibrate right off the engine. Give me a C6 Z06 with some Katech upgrades any day of the week.

I upgraded the 56 from a 265 to a very healthy (and built it to resemble a 57 FI 283) SB400, replaced the PG tranny with a Muncie, replaced the non-posi 3.55 with a 3.08 posi and added a Rochester FI unit modified by Bill Thomas in 1961. Moves right along with the flow of Interstate traffic---------------------------and will embarrass a few (some just are not ready for a 65yr old dinosaur to pass them and stay
ahead).
Why in God's green earth do I need a 600-700-800hp, 200mph car?????

And how many owners of late model Corvettes will do this???

Go to a track day and do a few 15-20 minute sessions of running as hard and fast as you and the car are capable. There's nothing else quite like it, and nothing else will make you feel so alive.

You might not "need" that, but I sure do. :)

I can only imagine that is what hard drugs feel like, because I'll spend the rest of my life chasing that high.

I hear that it's the day after that's the problem..........o_O
