Congrats.
Would have been nice if you could just get the SS and kept the Malibu for a daily driver.

I have too many vehicles as it is! Not enough space.... I would love to have a pair.... I had a 67 chevelle convertable, a 68 skylark convertable and a 69 SS 396 at the same time when I was young and had time/space..

No offense taken with the 307 thing....thinking is it is easy to build a 383 with the block make it a screamer and have it look stock too. big blocks are fun but...they love to drink well I mean don't we all but they drink expensive stuff. Our 94 octane zero ethanol is like $1.82 a litre so 6.87 CDN a US Gallon or $5.71 a US gallon My rum is cheaper.....LOL

Heard. Loud and clear!

And just think if you could put rum in your fuel tank there'd be nothing left for your car....

If someone offered me $15k for it they'd be an owner. It'll take another $30k to just make it a driver.
That's quite a stretch, don't you think.
I see a couple of patches in the window channel and some rust converter work, a windshield, a couple of patches in the floor, and drop in an engine to have a driver. That's just what I see. Don't know about what I don't see. But hardly 30k. I wouldn't pay 15 for it, but someone might.
But he said he had an offer for 15k.
That's a good down payment on his Super Sport.

I would sell yours and buy one that's done. Way cheaper (y)
But with yours, you will know what you have…. Buy a “ done” car and getting a bargain, you might later find hidden rust ( maybe worse then what you have now) , maybe a used BB from an old truck, etc…

The car needs a complete restoration including an engine and transmission. How much do you think it will cost.

It is possible there are issues under that vinyl top. If it was leaking bad enough to produce rot at the rear window channel there may be some unseen issues. I thought I saw some rough metal on left quarter panel. A mirage? Not counting vinyl top/ rust issues a paint job which OP said it needs is going to be $10K-$20K depending on how much body work is needed.
That is going with same color. A color change is going to be more. So is one going to get whole car painted and not address the bottom/frame?
Now take it to Maaco and get something for $4K but still need to address rust issues.
It adds up fast. Most times it’s cheaper to buy already done.

myself, id just find a running small block, for under 1000 with a intake and carb, bolt it in, new windshield and have less than 2k into it as a driving car for the summer. Have fun with it and sell it as a running car to the next guy with a bigger wallet and pipe Dreams. Then again I look at these cars as a hobby to tinker with, so paint isn't on any list of things to do for me.

That's a relative question.
If I were to buy it for 15k it would cost me a couple hundred and a weekend to make it a driver. You said it would cost '30k just to make it a driver'. I disagree.

“Driver” is a relative term. To many a driver is anything short of a trailer queen. To others a driver is anything that runs and moves under its own power.
To restore it would be $30K and up.
