All,

I am trying to help a bud out with his 70 velle. The problem is that the car sits low on one side (about a inch or so lower). Before we jump into it this weekend, I thought I would you smart folks for some help. Thoughts????? Thanks

Les

Had that problem with an impala, thought it was just me (weighing about 250) or springs sagged, replaced all 4 springs, still sat low on drivers side, turned out all the drivers side body mounts and rear control arm bushes were collapsed, something to check.

Do a search in the suspension area. This topic has come up quite a few times but I have not yet seen the solution. Maybe someone has the answer?????

It's usually just old sagged springs, especially on the drivers side, oh yeah and the "obesity epedemic" just kidding, I'm no lightweight myself. But one way to tell if it's the rear or front ? Park the car on a dry, level service. Jack the car up on the front crossmember, right smack in the middle with a small socket between the jack and the crossmenber. (so the car balances) If it's still lower on one side at the back ? it's the rear that's sagged. Do the same with the socket in the middle of the rear axle to see if it's the front ? **BE CAREFULL DOING THIS AND DON'T GET UNDER IT OR IN IT!** the jack can slip out real easy ! I know it's crude but it works.

im having the same problem, sagging on the drivers side rear. i switched rear springs thinking it would sag on the OTHER side but it still sagge on the drv. side. front is completely level im thinking the frame might be tweaked a little bit.

Did you cange the springs at any time.. maybe you didn't seat the spring in the correct location and it is sitting higher or not in the spring seating location. Just a thought to check.. check the manual for the correct clocking of the spring end for your year car.

Thats the problem Levon. It could be a number of things. Spring, spring pad, spring mount, colapsed body mount, bent frame.
Les. Start anywhere on this list and go until you find the problem.

have you had the control arms off or loose for any reason reason i ask is on my 70 same leaninig prob . got assembly man. it says that the upper control arms have to be leveled off the frame before tightened same for the lower fronts which means that you may have bushings in a bind redid the front on mine and got most of it out have not did the rear yet ... hope this helps
