Some of us won't be around in 2040
I guess I'm going to miss out on all the fun of driving an electric car. Hopefully I won't have to learn Chinese either. They're making old age look better and better.

Me I am gonna get the biggest badass fastest electric thing available, get a recording of the best sounding muscle car of the past and blast that sound out the back of my two fake exhaust pipes. Maybe a little fire too. My plan in the near future (I have a solar home) is to buy a Ecar in 4 or 5 years for my basic driver and keep the Chevelle and Camaro SS until I can't push down a clutch pedal anymore. What's for sure power has been in my past and will be in the future too.

Two problems I see: Where is all this electricity going to come from? We use 88 million barrels of gas a day. That is that is a lot of electricity equivalent energy. Aren't any of these green people engineers? And these new housing developments that are going in with no garages and no place to park you car and no assigned parking spot where do you charge your car?

Well Ca has already mandated only electric cars in 2035 TO BE SOLD NEW and Ma is in the midst of passing the same regulations as are other states so its coming. Being a strong believer of green energies I can only recommend that you should take advantage of the current incentives and credits. 15 years ago my company had electric charging stations on the outside of the building for their electric fleets of cars so this isn't anything new. Quick chargers are already here and I do not think you can fuel your current car where you park it at night. No difference really. 14 years is a long way away and stuff will get better relative to non polluting technologies. I haven't had an electric bill in a year and I also provide power back onto the grid for others to use.

We should all go back to horses ,but then some activist would complain about the methane they produce. When the world goes all electric whats gonna happen to the electrical fields the earth generate.Maybe we will stop its rotation and reverse the poles.Im joking,in reality all this is suppose to benefit humanity. .Our lives have gotten way to complicated when in the end we just leave here as is.The earth is all we will ever have ,the pure distance interval to the next star much less habitable planet will keep us here until the sun destroys us.Like it or not we have to look after our house before it burns down.Electric is just the next step in our evolution of friendly interface.

Read scienvebasedtargets.org. This hobby and biz will die and my way of life destroyed. I get dirty looks and comments from Prius owners when I drive my classics and old diesels. Electric cars are bad for the environment too and any real gearhead knows this. The skinny jeans manbun guy has no clue. Society is going down the tubes.
I couldn’t agree more! All in good time should alternate energy be implemented (gradually) and due to market demand! Cramming it down our throats is NOT the way it works in a free society!

If electric/battery cars were that damn good the demand would show its acceptance!

We need to voice our opinions NOW, not later! These folks in Washington are suppose to work for US, not the other way around!

This insanity can only be stopped by sane people, not the insane ones running the asylum in DC!

I don't expect to be around for it, but I question where all this electricity will come from.
Ah, we;re going to burn shitpots of natural gas piped through imaginary pipelines is how.

Most carbon neutral methods I see today are either bio-diesel or nuclear powered grid charging system. NEITHER are "politically" accpetible. Meaning we'll get sub optimal solutions of we let govt get too involved.

But dont ignore the fact that electrification revolution is here. It IS 1900 again, and soon many of the cars on the road will be electric. What was the stat back then, 50% electric until they got engines to make something like power?

Younger folks are 100% on board with this, unlike us OFs. OK 95%.

Again, when I visited DANA's website months back , it was made clear to me the revolution is afoot. Hell, I had to buy some of that old axle and bearing company, wondering when the supply contracts to the major auto manufactures will be announced!

Its is just starting to take off. Battery technology is holding it back but every year they get much better. I don't understand the bug issue having an electric power plant besides the sound and shit even my twin turbo Edge ST pumps in fake sound to be more appealing to guys like us. As Dean mentioned yesterday how many will be around or still buying new cars 15 years from now. I will be 81 then and God forbid something happening nasty to me it may just be a mute point. Most fully Electric cars today will smoke our muscle cars of yesterday. I am just glad the technology emerged in a way that allows us to drive ourselves around and the freedom that permits.

The next few generations won't want freedom. They won't want independence or responsibility either. They will be taught to want mom and dad (government) to take care of everything, their tech to think for them, and their cars to drive for them. Driving a car without it doing all the work will be seen as some kind of death wish. It's happening already. Younger people don't look at the car the same way we do.

Listen, I’m all about new technology and aspirations for a green planet.... but we are far from there. I still favor corded power tools over battery since that cord has never failed me.
Bought a battery power leaf blower (and not a cheap one) that lasted 20 minutes on a full charge... what a joke. Returned it for a good old gasoline powered back pack model.
I think we really need to perfect and master battery life, charging durations, and replacement costs before jumping into bold statements to eliminate gas powered cars.

Maybe if we could get lawnmowers, leaf and snow blowers, weedwackers, chain saws etc to an all electric state that would also be completely reliable and affordable, electric cars may have a better chance of acceptance?

I see that attitude more with my children and not my grandchildren. You are right kids today just are not that excited about cars anymore and are just a necessity. Ubur is pretty good getting you around and the cost of a new car is unreachable today for the younger gang. Plus in my generation cars were a symbol of who we were and held glamorous status for those with the nicest and fastest. That was a goal unlike today. Have you looked at cars today. I still can't tell one from the other. The final nail in the coffin is insurance, kids are billed on stats from our years.. not fair to them because we were car crazieso_O

Next up; electric air travel..... the cords might be a problem though.

Nope Hydrogen will power our new jets of the future. Byproduct is water. If it is good enough for rockets it's good enough for jet engines. Sorry guys but we will be putting our horses back in the stable and taking out our Model T's. We flick a switch today and no longer light the kerosine lamps. Same analogy just a different time. I am excited about newer and better and can keep the classics for pleasure. They will always be in style and loved.
