Has anyone had the issue when installing the side pillar chrome on the windshield and the side pieces do not match up with the clips.
There is a lip on the chrome pieces that catches the clips edge. I have from .252" to .287" distance from the clip edge to the chrome molding.
Have ordered all clips available and all are short. Only way to make it work is to bend the clips to make up the distance.
Thoughts??

The side pieces are only held on by the side screws (3 or 4) and covered by the weather strip trim piece. Clips on the top moulding and are just a longer version of the coupe clips. The pic is very hard to see. Can you take a better shot? How about a shot from the inside too.

Just to clarify, the side chrome molding does not require clips even tho their are clip pins in the pillar.
I’m not surprised for I received this car as a rolling chassis and added some extra pics of the issue.

Here is mine. First pic for for my 68 Chevelle convertible. There are no side clips but I can see you have clip studs which makes no sense to me. Coupes have those. The second pic is my Camaro that uses that method. You are a 68 Chevelle yes?

Are you talking about the side mounding as your post states or the top mounding that runs on top of the windshield. Are your pictures rotated? I used a 5/16th ribbon and should have used the 3/8th but that does not expose any gaps only a space between the glass and the moulding. Can you please clarify what you are asking

Thank you
I have been looking for direction for some time
Yes 68 Chev SS convertible with pillar pins
So you just screwed the chrome to pillars with the 4 screws holes and this suffices to hold

However I am very confused why you have those welded post for a mounding clip on your side pillars. Did someone use a hardtop top piece and that is what confused me? There should not be any clip studs on the side pillar only on the top header. Many people do crazy stuff over the years to our cars. I do have a piece of 3M ribbon seal under the chrome pillar piece to avoid a possible rattle. Some cars like my 70 GS convertible had a plastic sleeve between the pillar and the chrome moulding to eliminate rattles. Before you put in all screws line up the rubber seal retainer for the vent window trim piece as I believe they share a couple screw holes.
