I'm getting ready to drill the 2" hole through the fire wall of my 65 for my psi wiring harness. Does anyone have any suggestions on where the best place for it would be? I'm planing on adding vintage air ac and I am concerned about the location conflicting with the under dash ac unit. Ps it is a ls3 swap under the hood.
Thank you

On my 69, the Vintage Air unit caused me to loose about half of the glove box(their kit came with a replacement). I also lost a little foot room on the passenger side, other than that it is really a pretty easy install. Hope this helps!

I still have the oem heater in the car, does any know how much more space the vintage air unit takes up ?
Take a look at your heater box and compare it to the one in this photo. This one is for a 65 Chevelle. It sucks up quite a bit more space. I'm planning on doing one on a 70 soon, so I'm watching these types of posts.:wink2: You can also see the size and shape of the block off plate for the original cowl opening. Also figure you'll need to run the refrigerant lines to the unit as well.

Also a picture of the unit in a 66 chevelle.

I just did a test fit/mounting of a vintage air evaporator in my 65 El Camino which is undergoing a major restoration/rework. The only thing under the dash right now is the Vintage Air unit. I hope the photos show you what you need to see. The satin black interior paint make it a bit difficult to see all the details.

May want to consider mounting the computer somewhere under the hood. Most new cars do that and eliminates the need to punch a huge hole in the firewall. All depends on the look you are going for.

How long is your harness, is it only made to pass through or be mounted on one side? Mounting on the driver's side cowl shoulder keeps the computer out of site for the most part. I'm running the DBW harness through the speedometer cable hole.

Hey Seena what's dbw? The harness I bought from PSI is set up to go through the firewall but after talking with them they explained it was pretty flexible on its mounting positions
Senna do you have a build thread?
DBW = Drive By Wire. Electronically controls throttle.

Yes, I have a build thread in the Pro Touring section, "Troy Built 66 Chevelle"
