:beers:

It's time we tasted the brew again, any ideas?

BBQ here, Beaux's or Al's new place in Fresno...

Or, a road trip to Kinzli's might be in order ;)

Oh, or a 'tear apart Tony's Chevelle and do a cam swap finally party' one weekend....

I think I have everything here; cam, lifters, lube, Rotella oil, gaskets, new torque wrench, new degree wheel... pretty sure I bought a balancer puller/installer...

I also have my other Chevelle we could pull the body off the frame, or do some bodywork... tear-down/check/re-gasket a BB (if I got the carb rebuilt too, we could fire it up!)... Woo Hoo...

Part one, piece of cake, name a date.

Part two, :clonk:

Unless you and Ron want to calf flex the body from the frame, then maybe :)

On the cam,
I will probably wait until after the Kingdon event, as I plan to drive it there, and I am pretty busy right now (installing a laminate floor, new baseboards, finishing the painting of my French door, some yard work, etc)... Also have my Wedding anniversary this Monday, and the wife wants to take a day trip to see the leaves changing colors up in Alpine County, take the kids to the circus one day next weekend and visit grandma in the next few weeks too...

How's the house coming Craig?

Debating between picking up that Chevelle wagon project, buying a new Colorado, or putting off both... Have the money, just not the time to play with them (but thinking of the future)...

Responsibilities Suck!

The wife did welcome the idea of another BBQ here, as long I finish the floor first, "unless your friends want to help finish it."... Any plans on TNT in Sac?

House is doing OK, I just got mostly finished with Brians room. I framed/filled in the original closet wall, and built him a whole new closet on the wall the faces the kids bathroom. I kept the original wood doors, and all, so it fits right in like it should be there as original to the house. I also tore out the original built in desk/drawer thingamagigger and all the carpet down to the wood floors. Which were in decent shape, I may do some refinishing or put carpet back, who knows? Painted everything too, blue/tan/white, looks like a sailors/maritime room now ;)

It took me 4 whole days, I was tired.

Anyhoo, Sac TNT sounds good, but lately it's been kinda tough getting everyone interested in another get together. I must have said/done something to scare 'em all away  Or as I suspect, everyone has been busy with life in general and does not have much time for stuff like this anymore.

I should make it out to Kindon on the 7th so if anyone is thinking of attending I think I will be there but not sure with what car yet.

Your cam swap, I would love to come up and make a day/weekend of it so if we all want to put something together let's talk about it soon. It's going to take most of the day to do this, so we should get an early start. Plus a pre teardown would be helpful ;) This way, all the guys can come in and finish the job up so we can see it run the same day.

Happy anniversary Tony, hope you two have a grear time up there :)

If I KNEW when I was going to do it, tear down wouldn't be a problem... I figure 1-2 hours to tear almost everything down (a few relaxing nights), just firgured I'd hate to have it down for months... I had considered just sliding the other cam in like the old days (no degreeing). I figured the 'degreeing' is what will take the most time for me, since I have never done this...

Still considering that wagon, but if I do, I will low-ball the guy (will, not really too low, I think). He is "asking" $3300 (same as a month ago), and I think thats to high for what it is... We previous negotiated to $2800 (which was higher than I really wanted to go), and of course, I backed out. I figure I'll offer $2300 (he is including some extra stuff I don't need anyway) and see what he does... IF I get it, maybe I'd drive that to Kingdon...

Been busy with general crap and police academy stuff (accepted and starting in November) but I am ALWAYS up for a get together. I just need to make the time and set stuff aside. I am trying to make the the upcoming gig as well. Still have time to get something else together, just need to get everyone involved.

I think the harder part now is that we are more spread out than we used to be with Ron and Alan and folks down in the fresno area. Kind of a wider swath now.

im always up for it, just need to plan accordingly and make sure I MAKE time

Hey guys...I'm actually gonna brew some of Craig's favorite raspberry hefe this weekend :)

Not much going on here, haven't have the Chevelle out of the garage much this summer, been sick and taking care of a sick wife. We're hopeful that we're on the mend though now.

Beaux, police academy? Right on dude. Go big.

Yo Craig! Man, I've been wanting to get together, but I'm just busy as a Hollywood h**ker. Traveling has been non-stop since the first part of August. Every week I'm going somewhere. Austin, Denver, Oklahoma City, Altanta (thanks for losing my luggage US Airways! ), Austin again next week, then to Santa Clara the first week of October. Oh, and air travel SUCKS these days. Freakin hassle. I barely get time to sit and enjoy life. Also, gotta keep the girlfriend happy. Money is tight (that's like preaching to the choir though), got chores to do around the house. This weekend I have to attend my nephew's 2nd birthday party in Bakersfield, following weekend is Vegas (I'd like to save my money, but my friend is counting on me going out there), weekend after that - well maybe I'll make Kingdon. I barely have time to sit on the throne and read the new Playboy  .

I still take the Chevelle out once a week or so. No money to buy performance parts.

How about lets get something together for mid-late October? It is OctoberFest time afterall :) . That's about the earliest I'm available (except Oct. 7-8).

gotta keep the girlfriend happy.
Alan,
Same girlfriend from a ways back? Or new woman?

Got to live vicariously, you know... been married 7 years (7 year itch...)...

Beaux, get hired on to any particular department? Or just an academy on your own?

That's funny Tony :D . This is a new woman. Met her at the local AAA office. Go in for insurance, come out with chicks! That's the way I roll ;) . The previous one moved to Seattle 18 months or so ago.

Cool...

Just got off the phone with the "wagon" seller...

He agreed to my $2300 offer...

Doh! Now to tell the wife...

He said it seems to need a valvejob... Said it runs good, but a slight miss and even did a burnout easily, but makes a "Ffft Ffft Ffft" sound out one side of the exhaust...

get it. freshen the motor. clean up the mechanicals, brakes, etc. and pimp that thing. Worry about the cosmetics later :) . Tell the wife, "I just bought our next family car"! Say, with an LSx, overdrive tranny, A/C, and fully restored interior and exterior, we'll be in it less than a new vehicle costs after financing charges, increased insurance, etc.

Good Luck. You owe me :beers: if you use my wording and the wife bites. Otherwise, I don't owe you jack if the wife doesn't bite :waving:

Jeff my good man, I'm crying here, I LOVE that beer. I swear, if I had a choice, I would drink that stuff all the time. BUT as life goes, I cannot. Wait, I do have a choice, can one hire a good plumber to run a tube from Jeff's brew room to a beer dispenser in my kitchen? I'ts only 120 miles :p

I did not know you were sick, you OK??

Beaux man, I know this is something you have wanted for along while. Enjoy it, you only live once. Say hi to your parents for me, your dad is one cool cat.

AL! you, Beaux and I need an afternoon or evening/sleepover beerfest soon. Ron needs to be there too ;) If you want to do this here my garage is not much different though, but it still has 4 comfy chairs and a radio and a spot for the mystery cooler.....Or we can hang at Beaux's and give him crap about his car, ya know, like old times.

Tony, I cannot speak for the other guys but if you wanted to soon we could do this in no time at all if everything was there. Degreeing the cam is no huge deal, I did it on my ride. I did have problems last time though, I forgot to loosen the rockers before I did it (numbers were WAY off). I felt pretty dumb lemme tell ya. But to properly degree a cam, one has to have an adjustable timing set, like a multi keyway to really dial things in. I would suspect if not you have a +/- 3 degree timing set (cloyes 3 way crank gear is common) and degreeing that one just makes sure the opening/closing events are correct before buttoning everythig up afterall.

You going solid? I forgot.

Craig, let's put something on the books to get together...I'll brew a keg of that beer you like and we can all pound it down. I need about a month's to 6 weeks notice so I can buy the ingredients, brew it, and keg it. It needs about a month from the time we brew it til the time we drink it.

Another thing we could do is all get together for a brew day somewhere. I could be the brewmeister and show all you guys what's involved in brewing. We could meet centrally at someone's house and do it there...just a thought.

Yeah, Toni and I have both been pretty sick. Long story, I'll tell ya next time I see ya. The good news is now we actually know what is making us sick and are a pretty aggressive protocol to treat it, but things haven't gotten much better yet. Hopefully in a year we can look back and be better than we are today.

Could it be over-exposure to too many dirty hippies living in the general area? :p

Likely yes, I'm sure that didn't help :) FilthyRon and I actually made a point to roust some hippies a while back - I'll let him fill in the details :)

I guess I need to go look, I don't remember buying a timing chain, but pretty sure I did (just the 3-key setup)...

Going crazy on the wagon... yes/no/yes/no... The wife isn't too thrilled, but mainly because I don't NEED a project since I have my hardtop to work on (plus all the convertible work I should be doing)... But this morning I looked at the digital pictures I took, and brought it back to the "buy it" feeling...

Trying to find the damn card reader so I can download some pictures...

Yeah man, we got to get together soon for diving into the mystery cooler (it's a 5-day chest on wheels now. headers on order!) and shootin' the breeze. Maybe if we all end up at Kingdon on the 7th, we can raid Beaux's garage afterward? LOL.

My place is getting close to hosting. I put in horseshoe pits (to National Horseshoe Pitching Association regulations :D ) and just need to install the backstops (with beer holders of course). Beaux and I broke it in last weekend. Works like a champ.

Kinzli, hope you and your wife get better! Can't have our brewmeister all sick and stuff. So were looking at an early November BBQ for a special batch of TC beer to make an appearance?

I'll offer up my place for the next Q. That's if you guys want to make the drive. Craig is the closest one to me (~1 1/2 hrs.). Well, Mellows are actually the closest (~1 hour). The rest of you guys are over two hours.
