End of my day getting ready to go home. I close my shop door. I'm the last technician there for the day. Service advisor comes by to check on something and is backing up as I'm closing the roll up door. He hits the gas without looking back and hits my car. He damaged my original cowl hood with hood pins, left front fender, grill, and front bumper(who knows what else is damaged). I'm so pissed off. What brand of sheet metal do you guys recommend for replacement? Some of these aftermarket parts seem to be flimsy. I don't think there is a replacement hood with the provisions for the hood pins. keeping my fingers crossed that I can find someone that can fix it.

Sorry to hear that, sucks big time. Hopefully the co-worker will help you out.

My 2 body guys couldn't tell the difference between goodmark & AMD both are decent but they both said any after market metal has to be tweaked, Id try to find some original if possible, hope he steps up, that really sucks

If he's not being cooperative, get a police report.

Definitely start an insurance claim.

Noted that it did not say ex service advisor......
Hope it works out, I'm sure he will make good on it... else my thoughts on the human race just dropped down another notch...

Unless your loaded or have a money tree in the back yard, I’d forgot about original parts. If they are used original your going to spend 2 to 3 times to fix it. I spent a bit more on AMD quarters, but they were nothing special. Still needed plenty of work. After that I bought what Ground Up sells, because I can go there in person. It’s been every bit as good as the AMD stuff. Not too mention AMD doesn’t even make everything you may need depending on what year/model you have. If at all possible try to buy your metal local so you can inspect it in person. Be picky and get the best ones they have. Even at that it still will need work, no way around it. Hopefully you have classic car ins. as that will be extremely helpful $ in getting it fixed. Good luck, and yes the aftermarket hoods are available with hood pin holes.

Thanks for the replies. No I'm not in jail. Waiting to see what happens. He was still on the clock and so was I. He was also driving the company shuttle vehicle (transit connect). Service Manager is now involved. I am going to concentrate on fixing my car. My Chevelle is a Heavychevy. My hood is a cowl hood with hood pin holes. All the hoods I have (aftermarket) are either cowl induction with holes or cowl with no holes. I'm going to find good used fenders and look around see if anyone can repair the hood.

I didn’t know you have a Heavy Chevy, but yes you may be right on the hoods only have pin holes if it’s a cowl induction. But I would spend some time searching before giving up.

the company's insurance should cover the damage, but pretty sure the insurance company will try to string you along... that's just what they do if they aren't "Classic" car insurance....

I have just the guy for you in Westminster. He'll help you find original sheet metal and do all the work. Fixed up my bro's Camaro when some soccer mom smashed it. Been in the classic car field forever. Family run since the 80's. The way to pressure the insurance co is tell them you need a rental car from now until the completion of repairs. That makes them move a little faster. I'll send you a pm and give you his name.

Santini out...
