Short of keeping it in a bubble....not much. When I did a repaint three years ago, I would brush it with a California brush, cover it everytime I parked it, and so on, and so on. It wears off after awhile!

If you plan on driving it, it's going to get dirty. If you bolt it to the garage floor, it's STILL going to get dusty. Just use a good quality wax (I personally can't tell the difference between ANY of the top line waxes), and be done with it. Just beware of "The Birds".

I've been using Zaino Bros stuff for paint protection.

I've found Turtle Wax Protectant to work fairly well for leather, vinyl, rubber, etc.

I've also found a polish called Flitz to work really for aluminum (non-anodized). I believe it's the same as Mothers Mag Polish or something like that.

A final wipe with a GOOD shammy will remove all final water spots and other stuff from a surface after washing. I usually don't wash the car but will wash and shammy my aluminum wheels and they look much better than cleaning them any other way.

I too don't notice much difference between any top line waxes in their initial appearance but there is a difference in the longevity and maintenance.

I used Zaino on my black S-10 and it still really shines at a 15' or 20' distance even though it is completely covered in dust and other stuff when you actually get close enough to see it needs cleaned. Before, it pretty much always looked dirty except for the day I cleaned it.

Race Glaze is a great product, use it often in shop over newer finishes. It does tend to wash off easier than some other products. Definately lasts longer than most Mirror glaze products. Nu Finish seems to hold up better than Race Glaze for my use. Have used both Race Glaze and Nu Finish on my house boat, sits in very sunny area, maybe Gel coat likes the Nu Finish better but it sure held up better. Not try to start a Wax War, all products mentioned are excellent and am sure there are others. Karl

Want to test your wax? Run the car through the car wash once every week or so!

Also, see how easy the bird crap comes off.

If you get bird krap on your car, get it off
asap. It will etch even clear coat.

I use a California duster and a California
water squeegee. You can get them at K-Mart for 19.00. Also, I don't hose the car down. I use a bucket of soapy water and ring the rag out before wiping the car. I then have another bucket of rinse water with a different rag I do the same with to rinse. I then wisk the water off with the squeegee and go to the next area. Keeps water spots off and will not put buff marks or scratches in paint.
