I hope that GM can sell the public on the new Camaro as well as they have sold them selves. Apparently, the Camaro is only the start. There are a whole list of rear wheel drive cars coming so that all the divisions have something to sell. Perhaps one will be a retro Chevelle....2 door that is. Somehow, I just can't picture a '69 4 door Chevelle in SS trim. Four doors are for practical people. We aren't practical.

I'm a station-wagon man myself

Too bad the last real wagon rolled off the line in '96. :(

I'm too young for your poll, but I wouldn't buy a 2-door late-model car. They're just not practical at all. I'd have an 04+ GTO in the garage if I could justify owning a late-model 2-door.

Now that my youngest has turned 18, we really have no need for a 4 door car anymore. On the other hand I don't do cars, have had nothing but SUVs and trucks since 1984, currently 2 SUVs, Pickup and El Camino in the family.
Late model and new cars all just look the same.

Bill, would you be willing to wait to check out the new Challenger? I drove a rental Charger earlier in the year, and even though it was a 6 cyl, it was pleasantly fast, handled like it was on rails, and was very confortable. As it was a 4 door, it's on MY list as a possibility when I upgrade cars again. IF they do the Challanger as good as the Charger, it'll be a good car.

I'll be 50 next year, does that count ? :D

Life is too short to be practical. Okay, well, kind of ! No kids here and all we have is 2 door cars, the Chevelle and the C5 Roadster. Oh, and the Chevy 2500 truck, it has the rear suicide doors, but I really don't look at it as a 4 door, just rear openings for groceries clothes and gear to go fishing and such.

I guess I'm a Chevy guy too huh ? :D

Bill, My wife and I have what we consider the "best of both worlds". She loves a sports car, and drives a Mercedes SLK350 and my daily driver is a 96 4 door Blazer. The older you are the more sense a 4 door makes, but who says it has to be practical and make sense? Go with your gut feeling.

I probably didn't get the correct poin t across with this. I am not talking about a "hot rod", I have the Chevelle, and my wife can drive it almost as good as me. What I am talking about is a nice daily driver that is classy looking and can be taken on trips etc. Front wheel drive is fine with me, thats what the Riviera is. Last GM product that met the grade was the ElDorado, but thats gone. GTO looks like a Mazda :( and too small anyway.

My 2 door Tahoe is doing the job for now, guess I better take good care of it ! Wife's Riv is the same, almost like new, but if something happens to it .....

Also, being a business owner, I cannot fault GM for building cars that 99% of the public wants. Very few people want something like the GTO. One thing I do think they are missing out on is the younger drivers that want to move up from say a Cavalier, but there is nothing up the product line to get into, unless you want 2 extra doors :)

Im in my mid 50s also and the only 4dr Ive ever owned was a 64 Biscayne 100 dollar beater back in the early 70s.Great car,was extremely dependable.Ive been married over 30 years and and weve owned nothing but 2drs.My wife likes the big 2 dr suv,s,had a full sized Bronco and now has a full sized 2 dr Tahoe. She has to commute from the county down to the jungle of downtown Baltimore every day and she feels safer with 2drs.When our kids were growing up she felt safer that there were no doors in the back the kids could open as she was driving down the road. When the Tahoe wears out I dont know what we will get as I dont think you can get a full sized 2 dr suv any more.

Mercedes Benz CL500 is a very classy two door.
So is the '90 MB 300CE coupe. slightly lowered with AMG's. All 4 cars 2 drs here, the Suburban don't count. Just my Wife and I, and I'm over 50. She's mid 40's.
I have to say, I've seen some Beautiful Mustangs on the road. Lowered just right with the right rims and tires are killer..

Saturn beat me to it. I would have suggested a step down or so though. Go check out a CLK350 (3.5L V-6 car). If I didn't tell you, you would not know it's a V-6 in there. Get on of these about 2-3 years old (off lease). Typically very low miles (15k avg) for about 20K les than the sticker of a new one.

Very good pick. I just checked out the CLK 500 (v8), a month back.. A real hot machine. The Wife won't stop talking about it..

Hey, does 49 years and 4 months old count?
I do like the Monte if it had a V8 and RWD. The Mustang has been welcomed by the ladies. During my commutte to Andrews either by rt. 4 or 5 I see lots of women driving them. The Charger w/ SRT8 would look good w/ 2 doors. I believe some company makes them. The only 4 doors I liked was the 94-96 Impala and it was killed by GM.

I'm over 50 kids are gone and I don't buy 4dr cars anymore. It must be a fun car to drive so I ordered a new Vette. I'll buy a new Camaro when they come out. So there!!

. That Challenger is nice too. But why do so many of the Mustangs have automatic transmissions? I hear that the new Challenger isn't going to get a manual transmission either. That just isn't right! Every one of them needs 3 pedals in the floor. !!!
That challenger is going to cost over 42K with a hemi and its no secret that daimler/chrysler is trying to eliminate all manual transmissions from all their vehicle divisions.:clonk:

I'm mid 60's, bought two new cars in the past 14 months, a 05 Hemi Magnum & a 06 Vette. Also have two 4X4's, a 91 Z71 standard cab & wifes 03 2door Blazer. My 69 Chevelle is a 2 dr. Not a big fan of 4dr cars but wanted a car to replace the 02 Eldo that we sold. That was a nice car but I hated the front wheel drive & GM still doesn't have much in the way of rear drive.

When we ere looking at new cars for the wife a few years back I wanted a 2 door , she wanted a 4 door. She did want a sun roof though. We looked at everything. On just about everything we tested my head would hit the roof (because of the sun roof). She settled on an Acura 3.2tl type s. My head doesn't hit in it but very close. Been an outstanding car. My buddy just bought an 07 Monte SS with the sun roof. There is no way I can drive that thing. I don't mind the car but its a little tough slouching all the time
