OK guys, crazy idea time. Spent a lot of time and money on my resto. (Year 5) I don't want to mess it all up with brake fluid leaking everywhere.
Brand new brake system, soup to nuts. There's bound to be leaks. So, here's my idea.

I want to use nitrogen or argon thru a high pressure regulator (800 psi max), to pressurize the system at the distribution block.
Check for leaks with soapy solution. Test the rear, then test the front.

I'm not trying to replace a liquid with a gas, just trying to pressurize the system to appropriate levels and check for leaks without corrosive brake fluid.
No master cylinder, just start at the dist. block.

I have access to equipment similar to what's used in HVAC work.
Fabricating fitting adapters for testing in not an issue.

Any comments? (Good, Bad or Ugly?)
:grin2:

No offense, but it sure seems like a lot of work that can be avoided by simply using another set of eyes and a couple of rags wrapped around the fittings. I have found that the trick with brake lines etc is to tighten it, loosen it, re-tighten and you are all set. I spent 5 years on my build as well so I understand wanting to keep brake fluid off of fresh paint. But even with the testing you are suggesting, you are still going to have to deal with fluid on the parts when you bleed the system anyway.

You can always use silicone fluid. That's what I used in mine and I'm glad I did because the combination valve leaked about 1 day after I put the fluid in. The valve was on the frame rail and when I went to replace it the fluid went all over the place.

John, please feel free to ignore Zombies nasty remark. It's not really personal, just the way he interacts with the world.

Please elaborate on how my remark was nasty and not just light humor as intended. And when your done please explain how your remark wasn't offensive in any way.

How about:
" Lets not make this task difficult, With some thinking and Engineering,
We can make it dam near impossible ". >:)
