That specific Comp (marine) cam (above in red) has delivered 630 HP on the 489" platform on our med-perf pump-gas street builds. Med-perf means not 100% stock-appearing!

Today we now use the "01-451-8", this is the identical cam but with the newer "stepped-nose" snout. This lets us set up the block for a thrust-plate, "Torrington" roller chain, and no more cam-buttons or checking/setting end play. The days of using cam-buttons are slowing disappearing, at least for us here lately! Install the cam, the thrust-plate, have your .003" "built-in" end play, and never look back!

(Add) I would never use any "beehive's" on any units built here, or any single spring for that fact!! We had 7 broken ones recently in our area all were on different makes and late-model cars.

Thanks, Gary in N.Y.

P.S. We use some 1.8 intake rockers and 1.7 exhausts! This type build was instrumental in having us end up stocking 1.8/1.7 rocker pkges! Excellent all-around combo in the 10:1 area with aluminum heads.

Thanks for the reply , comp cams was pretty positive that the marine grind cam would make great power, I am glad that you have experience with , I was A little concern about the single spring myself actually , probably would stick with the dual spring
