If this engine block is what they claim it is, it should be displayed in a museum. It's a fragile antique and a remarkable artifact of Chevrolet history. It should be preserved as such.
GM reproduces this block in original two piece and the newer one piece rear main seal. The after market offers plenty better examples of aluminum blocks. If somebody wants to run an aluminum motor, why use the one irreplaceable original that's 47 years old?
