About fifteen years ago, I picked up a busted Snap On ratchet at a pawn shop for ten bucks. It had a bad click mechanism and the nice man in the Snap On truck fixed it for free. Not as good a deal as yours but still a win.

The guys that worked at the conveyor belt that fed scrap metal into the big metal melting furnace at the old Armco Steel plant in Kansas City, MO always kept an eye out for broken Craftsman tools that had been thrown away be Sears.
Quite a lot of broken tools went back through the Sears tool department twice.

Great score! as long as it wasn't used to stab someone...kidding...LOL

When I was a kid out driving with my Dad...and as a kid I mean 6-7 years old he'd spot a tool on the ground way up ahead and if no one was behind us he pull up near and I'd reach out and grab it.. If there was we'd loop around the block and get it...Vice grips, plumbers pipe wrenches wrenches (monkey).Chain, pliers. side cutters Screw drivers.
One day some guy was yelling at us as we drove away LOL I had no idea what was going on...It was either the guy who lost it or another guy who wanted it...
Now I do the same thing only it's my wife opening the door grabbing it and then say another hammer?
Have to be careful you don't get rear ended by a turnip texting...
Yes some really good stuff one the roads.
When working with the City I had to clear a road filled with Ball bearings coated in something sticky? the boxes were cardboard with heavy plastic liners but when they dropped off the truck the plopped down...LOL giant globs of these golf ball sized ball bearings in a red sticky coating. I think they were for the mining industry and they'd get cleaned off once there?
They look like Oar balls to smash the ore to a fine dust...
