well here is another go**$mn problem. please excuse the profanity but here goes again. I have 3 cars i cant title in my state because in order to get aninspection it must be roadworthy. They are rollers! no drivetrain. i have to get them running legally before i can title them! what a load! i called frankfort again and they seem to be on my side this time. they are changing some laws for US they said but may be a year before it passes. any suggestions on this one?

Does KY have a Non-highway title? Can the title be reassigned more than once without getting a new one? If so you could "sell" them to a friend in Ohio. Do you have a friend who is a Sheriff? He could "inspect" them for you a presto you have a title.

When is the inspection due before or after the titling in your state? In NC you can pay for the title and then get and are required to get an inspection within a certain amount of days if you require plates on the car. I titled my 69 and it sits in the back yard awaiting my attention, motor in the garage and stripped of interior. No inspection to date. Have also had to shift the location due to the inspections people raising the issue but they go away if the car is not viewable from the road. You may need to get insurance to get plates but i'd think there is nothing to stop you from changing the title over other than cost. I'm sure each state has it's own hoops and circus tricks that are required these days to save the older cars from the crusher. hope that helps Andy

we have it good in MN.. they never ever need to look at a car to title it or register it every year.
just go in, fill out the title, pay the $39.95, and leave with the car in your name. they even put all the info on the computer as of that very moment, and the paper title shows up from 2-6 weeks later..

In AZ if you buy a roller thats already titled, you just go to the DMV and transfer the title. it only costs like 12 bucks. If you buy a car with no title you can tow it to the DMV and go for a bonded title. the bond costs about 50 bucks for a typical roller, you might ask what other options you might have. Jim

You need to find a small building close by that you can use for storage.
Or consider putting these cars in storage units temporarily till you find something.
The stress something like this causes you is not worth it.
Get them Out of sight, out of mind.

I was reading your other thread about having to do something with these cars and I was thinking.
You said they would have to be behind a 8' fence.

Could you get some 4' x 8' sheets of privacy lattice and just put them around the cars. I mean literally right around the cars. They'd be 8' tall and behind a privacy fence.

Then they'd probably want you to get permits and inspections, or fine you if you didn't, and wind up with the same problem plus the fine
