Over the past couple years, someone always seems to start a 1970 "400" Malibu question that turns into an argument on Chevelle tech. Some people just refuse to believe.

SO.... I created a 1970"400 Malibu" page.
Thank Rainer for his help!

My "Chevelle, Malibu, and El Camino ID numbers 64-87" lists the 400 as an engine with three different codes as stated on your page. I always guesed this was a small block, wow was I surprised, very cool.
Great site and nice car Rainer, I learn something new every day

Good info Joe, I have the 400 emblems on my 70 Convertible but have no idea of what engine it had originally or if the fenders have ever been replaced.
I'm still a little confused though about what the differences are between the 70 - 400 BB and the late 69 or 70 so called 396 engines which were actually 402 engines.
Is ther any difference in the engines ?

My emblems are at;

Great info, Coppertop! Hopefully Team Chevelle can have a permanent link to this page to keep the info handy.

Thanks!

Just wanted to apologize for the flex radiator hose and the wire wheels that you see in the photos - they're off as soon as I get some time!

PS - Thanks to Joe for posting the pix and to all for the compliments.

Great site! From what I saw, you've pretty much proved your point to anyone out there who may have doubted you. Man would I love to find one of those babies for sale!!

Thanks. This is really great information and all, but quite frankly I don't remember asking you or anyone else this question.
