I've got a couple of those '69 JD blocks. Here's the one that is presently in my '69. It's a 272 block too, and dated only 10 days prior to the OP's engine! The other one I have is the original "numbers" block for my '69. It is also a 272 casting, and that one is resting on a shelf in my shop.
