While I still think $60k is a lot of money, it's a pretty good price for a cherry LS6.
Just saw one sell on Mecum this morning for $60k, it was said to be a 71,000 mile documented, #'s matching LS6 and looked to have been freshly redone.

They didn't go into details about the build and there weren't any real closeups to give you a look at the details, but the paint was nice looking and it seemed to be a nice Chevelle.
Would have easily been an $80-90k car a few years ago. (if it's legit)

I've been really impressed with Mecum's sales this year. It seems that the buyers here are real people witha good idea of what things are worth in the real world. I saw that LS6 you're talking about, and it was a beauty. Don't know much research they do on authenticity but they seemed convinced it was the real thing.

Link? Come on Andrew, you know the rules....

Link??? I dunno man, I just saw it on TV... Probably in the Mecum sale record on their website though.
I think the commentators are always saying on there that you can go to their website and look up all the sale transaction records after an auction.

When I see reproduction tach and dashes on "real" LS-6 cars,it always makes me wonder.Could be the real deal,I don't know, maybe the experts decided it wasn't,could be the reason for the lower price.Plus I wouldn't trust what the auctioneer says,do your own due diligence.

Is that a "25 A" on the firewall....it's a little hard to read. :D

It's one thing to scribble codes on top of the paint which is incorrect but it really gets rediculous when someone trys to make the markings look professional when the line workers just scribbled the numbers in a very quick but legible fassion.

Sounds about right.
I think we all know that if it really was "as advertized" and as nice as it "looks" then this does not pencil out...
It sucks that the buyers can't get any kind of guarantee from the auction companies about the authenticity of the cars as they are advertized. You'd think that the auction companies would want to do a little of their own "due diligence" before agreeing to advertize something as "numbers matching, xxx miles original, high-dollar option car" to their bidders?
But I guess that's not what brings in the commissions though, is it.

How can that value be accurate? Not trying to change the thread, but did anyone see the Micro car auction on Chasing Classic Cars? Those prices were unreal...

The Fathom blue LS6 with the white bench seat interior sold for $132,500.00.

Saw that too. Guessing there must have been quite a difference between these 2 Chevelles in the details and docs... Cause they both looked about the same from the outside.

Then 99% of the time the firewall was blacked out AFTER these scribbles.
