I just spke to my local NAPA guy and he told me WIX discontinued thier "R"ace filters? Anyone know this to be true?

What would be a good "high flow" substitute??

I am a napa employee. Napa is now using the wix # as their number. You should be able to purchase it under 51061R. I'm seeing plenty of availibilty throughout the country.

Why run the race filter? I talked to WIX directly and the only real difference is the size of the "holes" in the filter.....i.e. it filters less material but flows more....I have been running Wix regular filters on my race car and it spins 7200rpm.....my dad back when he was racing boats ran the standard WIX filter and spun that to 8500....we have never had problems...I would be cautious using a filter with less filtering.

I don't run a bypass valve. The race filters flow 28 gpm vs. 9-11 for the standard. I found it better to run the higher flow filter for pressure reasons.

Yep no bypass is the main reason I run one .......plus the better flow .......I have been saved by non bypass filter more than once over the years .good insurance on track car
