Have finished restoring dash in my 67 Malibu. After plugging wire harness back in, the engine won't turn over. The warning lights all come on and when I turn key all the way to start, the ALT light,{ which is lit up} gets even brighter, but I can't even here the solenoid click. What should I be looking for?

Well, the obvious is a wiring problem.
Did you buy a new harness, or re-do the old?
If you re-did it, ( I know Kurt, re-did is not a word.
) you got something crossed.
Check all the grounds. ( black wires I believe ) There are a ton of them in my 69.
Some of the places they ground these are not very good. I took all mine to the same place and made sure it was a good chassis ground.
In some cases I had to extend the wire, but I know the ground is good.
Also, it you don't have a wiring schematic, that is essential to wring out bugs.
Good luck.

The harness is still the original, everything worked fine last fall when I drove it home and put in the shop. I'm thinking maybe I didn't get the starter switch competely plugged into the connector. Guess I will take dash loose tomorrow and check this out. Where is the neutral safety swich? I really a dummy when it comes to electrical stuff. :[
Thanks
