Not there yet as engine at rebuilders. PO had put in 70’s Delco HEI. Chevy 350 with standard delco starter and std selnoid with S & R terminals. I am a wiring novice. Most of engine wire harness looks original. How am I suppose to get this thing wired up. Maybe I should go back to points. Rebuilder said something was wrong with points dist and the only solution was PerTronix II. Thanks

Run a 12ga wire from IGN terminal in the fusebox to the HEI batt term. Separate the wire that runs from the starter R terminal and connect it with the wire run from the fusebox to the HEI batt terminal. Cap and stow the left over resistance wire. Get one of these distributor connectors:

I am not clear. I think you mean to run the a 12g wire from connector red through the firewall to the ignition at the fuse box and store the wire containing the resistance wire from the original coil + to fuse box in place, capped, and hidden, right?

Confused about the R terminal wire. Do you mean to disconnect it at the selonid, rerouting the end you just connected disconnected and hooking it ip to that green connector wire? Thanks

There were 2 wires crimped together at the original coil+ terminal. One was the original resistance wire from the bulkhead connector, the other was the wire that runs from the solenoid R terminal (resistance wire bypass circuit). Cut the ring terminal off those 2 wires, put some heat shrink on the old resistance wire end and tuck it into the harness. There is a spade terminal in the fuse block marked IGN. Run a 12ga wire from that terminal to the HEI connector. Connect the new 12ga wire and the remaining original wire from the starter R terminal together to the red wire on the new HEI connector. The green wire on the connector is for a tach connection if your using one.
