I'm getting closer to finishing the resto on my 69SS. I'd like to go ahead and add a CS130 alternator. I've checked the tech ref article and it seems pretty easy. I do have a question about the gen warning light and the bulb providing some resistance. I don't have a bulb, I've got the SS gages - on these cars with gages, where does the 20g brown wire coming off the voltage regulator go after it passes thru the bulkhead and goes up into the dash wiring? Will I need to add a resistor as the article suggests?

All 64 to 72 Chevelles have a resistor wire that connects to the ignition switch and to the bulkhead connector where it connects to the brown wire in question. The resistor wire is there to provide the needed voltage to the original voltage regulator in the event the indicating light burns out or if, as in your case, the car is equipped with the optional gauge package. The answer is, There is no need to add resistance the factory dash harness wiring will provide what's needed.

I didn't know that. Thanks Elree, I'll check my wiring diagrams again. Jeff
